@10MO4vjR-1vng If you are in the "pre-selected" group but not given an offer, your severance will be paid by Broadcom...

Severance will be processed by Symantec, not Broadcom, and I've never heard that Symantec takes 60 days to send checks. That sounds like FUD.

The way I look at it, Symantec is still paying me to do a job right now. During this time, I'll keep doing my job to the best of my abilities. Of course, that's easier for me than someone in a sales role, since my compensation isn't variable.

In the meantime, I'll also work on getting myself (and my resume) in order and prepared for the possibility that I don't make the transition. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. :)

Shoot, get a second job you want, collect your paycheck until they give you the boot, and then get your severance.

The severance payout is what s—s, if you don't have anything lined up you are broke for the 60 day period which BRCM takes to pay your severance. It's not paid immediately like most think, you'll see a check first week in January if lucky.

I hope Vince doesn’t ask who works for sales right now because no one is!

No job is permanent in today’s day and age. Don’t think too much about the upcoming events. Stay in the present moment. We all need to be prepared move on to the next chapter whether we have an offer or not. Thinking of yourself as a digital nomad might help you stay motivated in any situation.

Stay motivated by preparing for your next job, updating resume, looking where you can fit in, may be watch some sitcoms or romcom :)

If you get an offer, great, if not, you will be prepared for what lies next for you ... sitting idle and thinking what might happen is bad for your mental and physical health

Relax :). Whatever is going to happen, is going to happen. Get some passion like Landry in Knightfall, have faith in your God or the universe. As a wise man said, Everything is going to be alright. - Bob Marley

I don't think anyone is motivated right now. Everyone is just waiting it out. Smart ones are preparing for a new job, just in-case things don't turn out their way.
