Is CPE considered shared services or will it go with enterprise?

InfraEng is "shadow I.T.". It's gone. Best case: TRANSITION until Broadcom I.T. is ready to provide service.

CPE will be gone in its current form. SaaS, InfraEng, Data Platform could go to BC for transition but BC wants that on-prem and not in AWS. Other parts of CPE are gone and not to BC.

A significant chunk of what CPE does is "shadow I.T." (because trying to get Symantec I.T. to provide useful services for the Cloud Generation was a lost cause). Broadcom has an I.T. department already and they are mandated to provide these types of services, so expect that part of CPE to be gone on Day 1.

It's already been stated that (apart from common services like H.R., legal, I.T.), each Broadcom business unit runs independently, so don't expect the scope of CPE to cover anything but Broadcom Symantec.

Over the last 3 years there have been many growth opportunities suggested for CPE, but what's actually happened has been a steady shrinkage. Why exactly would it be different this time around?

CPE can serve whole Broadcom. Big opportunity

Over 50% laid off on Day 1, another 20% given TRANSITION offers (stay for 3, 6 or 12 months) while you help them figure out how to eliminate or offshore your position.

How severe it will be...

CPE has always been focused on supporting ESG. It will go to Broadcom, after severe RIFing.
