If I could volunteer for it, I would. I'm so tired of Staples...

A complete miss by senior (or maybe senile) management on who to keep and who not to keep - loyalty, trust and appreciation don't live here – – only saving money. The real fat trimming should be at the top – needless and worthless VPs dot the landscape still
30% reduction is a lie.
you ought to know by now.
As Sandy said, layoffs will be on going based on projects. So it’s really not over by mid September. The overall goal is to achieve 30% work force reduction. Frankly I don’t feel good working for a company like this. But one thing is for sure, you have Sr mangers and directors unqualified to lead in critical positions. It’s a shame. Anyway hang tight, after all it’s not the end of the world! Take care!
Wish they would just get it over with
Cruel?? yes. Effective?? No doubt. Gives your masters & overlords that "funny" feeling down there, they like that.
Shhhhh. The person asked who else is looking forward to it. Don’t tell people here what they should and should not think ( to the last person to comment)
Never look forward to people losing their jobs. Most will have families to support. And for the survivors it will be harder to get anything accomplished after some long term people leave.
It will be entertaining to watch for sure. Hope alot of the folks that came up with the go to market strategy go first. What a colossal mistake. Great, profitable customers thrown to the side of the road to rot. Inside sales needs so many layers of fat trimmed now. Just start with RSM and head up stream.
Bring it on please... I just hope severance is still active.
This would be a gift from God!
a fish rots from the head down
I am. Been waiting for some time. Wish I could volunteer and would if they guaranteed I would get severance. Completely finished with staples, ready to move on. Will quit in the next 90 days if I don’t get laid off this time.
Wish they would just get it over with. Making us all wait and wonder for 4 weeks if we are being cut is cruel.
It’s never great to see people lose their jobs. However a lot of these leaders were never up to task. BCG gave SP an honest assessment of the leaders (80-90% of them not being fit for leadership roles). I know SP paid a lot of money for BCG to assess the NAD business and they are seeing a lot of SBA employees being directed by leaders to cannibalize loyal .com customers into an unhealthy trainwreck part of the business that is SBA mid-market. This has made its way to leadership team, and it is an extremely unhealthy way to run a sales organization and ultimately hurts the bottom line for short term gains and to hit unrealistic numbers for the month.
Unfortunately a lot of associates will have to inevitably pay the price for senior management on up mismanaging the business. I pray that people find something better after this is all said and done, from associates to the leaders who mismanaged the business, and pray the leaders have learned from their mistakes.
