I agree. Lots of goodwill written off by the Bluecoat cronies (i.e. executives) after the SYMC-BC integration to secretly bump up their total compensation and put further long-term burden on Symantec. Nick, Greg, and all those other blue b–tards did us dirty. I hope karma is a b–ch!

@dtth Right.. and who ran the integration and the company post acquisition? And in whose name where those extra people hired? Who signed off on that? BlueCoat executives and BlueCoat middle management. Every half decent Symantec executive was pushed out, including CFO Seifert. We wouldn't have had scandals under this CFO as we had with the Italian sleaze bag BlueCoat brought on board to cover up their false reportings.

@10KZns3W-8hyi Symantec showed hell to Bluecoat. Remember Symantec is a dying company, they dragged Bluecoat down with them. Bluecoat was doing really good before the acquisition. Let's face it. Fun fact: You should know most folks that got RIF-ed are from Symantec. Symantec did unnecessary hires and grew big like bunch of pigs.

BlueCoat was the death of Symantec including Draper and Greg Clark

Of course you can expect management to put a positive spin on things, regardless of the truth. They don't want a mass walkout. They want a mass layoff on their terms.

The worker bees (that's all of us) should basically ignore the positive spin and start shopping, unless you are positive you're going to be one of the Chosen Few and you want to work for Broadcom. Take control of your destiny, rather than bending over and taking it.

@1ktm

As of now, no one knows who are staying who are not. all we know there will be massive RIFs. yet they have a business to run as-is until the acquisition is complete. So what do you think most of the management people would say when you ask about your future??

Let me answer that

  1. I don't know yet. WIll let you know as soon as I know (which is true)

OR

  1. So and so told us this and that OR I heard this and that. So I think we are safe and moving to BCRM . (what it means I don't know, please keep doing what you are doing and stay motivated /positive )

"Keep yourself motivated until you are let go" ?!? Are you kidding me? Unless you are positve you will be one of the chosen few who will receive a STAY offer from Broadcom AND you think you want to work for Broadcom long term, start shopping for a job now!

Why on earth would you stay motivated or loyal to the company when the activist investors have gutted the company just to line their already platinum-filled pockets? Wake up and smell the coffee, people!

While Symantec has been struggling to be productive, it didn't have to go down this way. What we are experiencing now is the direct result of naked investor greed without regard to any consequences.

"Received an email from management saying WSS (as a product) will be moving to Broadcom"

What it means is

"Keep doing what you are doing . Keep yourself motivated until you are let go. Dont think too much about this now and waste time"

Sorry this is the bitter truth.

Please take in acount when you will get an offer two other people will go home with bad news and sad face. I got the same email. It doesn't mean that wss employees are safe.

Broadcom cares about stability of their business. Expect less features and less people working on them

Is it WSS on-prem and/or WSS on AWS? That’s kind of important to know.
