I visited the Fremont, CA Fry’s yesterday, and for starters the parking lot had a surprisingly few vehicles in the afternoon, and once inside I was stunned by the many empty shelves, display areas, lack of computers, only 1 Apple laptop & very few customers. Virtually the same as others have written about. Sad to see, but certainly had the appearance of a business that’s not going to around much longer if that continues.

The only real value Fry's has/had to me was a decent variety of items that you could pick up on a whim or an oh-ship type of situation. Their pricing really isn't all that good considering some of the items being sold. A lot of cheap Chinese c-ap, and I have always been amazed at how many people didn't realize they bought a refurbished TV or some other larger item until it was brought to their attention after the fact. They claim to price match Amazon or whoever, but it almost impossible meet the requirements because they carry unique SKU numbers, usually referbs that almost no one would have.
I asked the cashier this morning, she said they haven't have a shipment for awhile, and she doesn't know if they are going to close the store.
Interesting, but that doesn’t account for why the parking lot is virtually empty, many display aisles empty or practically empty, and oh, very few customers, with only one or two open cash registers & no one waiting in line. I’ve lived here since before the Fremont opened & I’ve never seen it like that. From my observations it didn’t feel like the place it used to be, but felt more like an unofficial going out of business sale to sell off as much product as possible.
I was there in Fremont today and asked two employees if they were closing down, and they all responded no, it was just that they couldn't reorder due to tariffs. I heard another customer ask another employee and received the same response. That story doesn't seem plausible.
