The promotions within Staples of appointed leaders such as certain VP/GM’s or RVP’s that not qualified are short sided. They are to show that Staples is inclusive as they initiate an IPO or get lucky and find a buyer. Staples has some great leaders left, but they are shooting themselves in the foot in the long run by hiring these individuals. I worked with two and was shocked to see them promoted. The owners have a plan to make money. They are smart and experienced with the ability to cloak the true meaning behind their actions. My definition in success may be different from others, but Staples needs to reinvent from their reinvention in order to succeed. Good luck and live well!

man oh man you still believe SP is trying to or is going to make staples great again? PUH-LEEZE! what have they done during their ownership to make you think that? Staples is dead, dead DEAD! to think otherwise is kool-aid induced fantasy.
yup, bankruptcy court.
then the real layoffs begin.
everything until now have been for show, to give SP time to gut the company. once the core company files, you will see massive layoffs, I would expect about 50% of current headcount.
I think you mean “short-sighted,” not sided. But no, their promotions aren’t short-sighted at all; their promotion is very strategic. Regardless of personal success or track record, promotion criteria is based on lack of integrity when it comes to how you treat your peers and subordinates. What I mean by that, is that the top leadership just wants middle management who can deliver layoffs/firings with a smile.
A buyer or an IPO?? You are a Sycamoron, mark my words this ends very soon in bankruptcy court, there is nothing that can be done to save or reinvent big red
