This former CTO apparently did not have a university degree according to his profile, just a high school is listed. How did he ever get hired for any engineering position much less a CTO position? A bachelor of science degree is required on JDs for even entry level engineering positions. Who vetted this person? I sincerely hope Resideo is not taking advantage of his consultancy.

That's what happens when you lay off your best software developers and offshore everything.
@-1heo, the analysis is not wrong and IP/differentiation at sensor level was a key honeywell assets that is no more a differentiation. However, current Resideo portfolio lack the differentiation that is required to hold the fort and need to play a different business game.
The CTO and his bosses are repeating the same mistakes made by Honeywell which created 500 new competitors in China and their largest competitor, Alarm.com. The new management appears to have no actual experience in Resideo's business areas and so are probably not even aware that they're repeating mistakes. If not, they're working for the competition or mistakenly believe that Resideo's products are a commodity. Most products from Resideo's competitors are junk, but Resideo is handing out the IP to competitors who only need to wait a couple years before they can use the IP in their own products. Sell your stock now.
It was done in the spirit of hiring the best talent you can get for the money....just like we do for all other talent. not the best...the cheapest possible.
But it was a really really nice High school. Thats all right, we dont have people who write our software with any training or skill in it apparently either. I see we are back to the outages on a daily basis......
