In Europe if you are a representative of the workers union you have the right to stay even if you are cut. I saw a situation where 1 worker was on stay but wanted to be cut so they just traded with a Union rep who was to be cut. As 60% of our Global workforce was cut, chances are you will be cut.
Speak with your current manager if you have ok / good relationship with him/her. Likely (s)he will not able to help, but there is change (s)he can raise it a little to people who can make that decision. Just don't say it's because of money (severance) better to say that it's family related or something alike. Like your marriage in danger or you want to spend more time with children if you have some.
Does "no go" mean that you don't go to Broadcom or that you don't leave the company?
You can always decline an offer and forfit any severence
Will your direct manager even make it through? You have to ask this as middle management are one of the things likely to be heavily cut.
I suppose if your manager or manager’s manager is staying and they know how many heads can transition, maybe they will put you on the “no go” list if you ask them. That might help limit the number of employees who get RIF’d who would prefer to transition to Broadcom.
