Good to hear. I’m ready to get out. Would like a package though. I’ll volunteer next time as the rumors for the next big one build. Wish me luck.
Check out the PS and services organizations and you'll see some people laid off who came back as contractors. It's a good way for Juniper to save money, but it also tells me that people still like working at Juniper. I think in the end it depends on your team and your management chain. If you work in a toxic environment being threatened with lay offs then gtfo!
I was laid off in January. It was a little stressful at first, as is normal, but in the end it was by far the best thing that has happened to me professionally. Rather than worry about when it's my time to get laid off under the radar and rather than waiting for the bottom to fall out underneath this sham of a company, I'm actually at a company who is growing (like most companies other than Juniper). The comp is much better and the culture isn't even in the same ballpark. Do not fear being laid off. It's almost impossible to be treated worse than a Juniper employee. Blue skies ahead!
A buddy and I left a while ago when the crud started hitting the fan too close to our feet. He went to Netflix and I went to Facebook. We're both crushing it in comp by over 3x! My heart bleeds for you guys suffering for no reason. The toxic shrapnel was so bad that Juniper still haunts me to this day! Clown pay and heart attack stress. Prep like a m-f-and gtfo!
I left a couple of weeks ago and LOVE my new job. No layoffs and no need to watch your back. Better benefits, compensation, clear go to market strategy, good ethics and enviornment that thrives. The grass is indeed greener on the other side. Do not be afraid to take a chance and jump, I promise you won't regret it. Run-Forest-Run!
I got laid off 14 months ago and never looked back. Now at Cisco with better total comp, learning and not fearing stealth layoffs. Yes Cisco lays off the bottom performers, but at least that's more fair than Juniper's strategy of stealth layoffs of even high performers (too many stories the last few years). Folks I can attest to this after bumping into so many former Juniper people at Cisco. The grass is much greener on the other side folks!
How long since you moved?
