Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Is there really "go forward" plan to keep this company alive?

Everything seems to be hush hush and vague about what the plan is...I get there's a push for more online presence and small pop up stores but besides opening up what 3 pop up stores and them shutting down 50 full line stores months after it hasn't seemed like much progress, basically been losing the entire customer base by keeping these full line stores open without the proper logistics to support them, it's a complete circus at the store level why even continue to operate like that, the baby boomers aren't all that old and you'd definitely need their support to have any success with the pop up stores and the millennials that are just starting to buy houses aren't just going to flock to the nearest Sears home and life especially after hearing the horror stories from there parents who until now used to shop at Sears.. the name Sears is just getting dragged through the mud by staying open in my opinion. But if you're just planning on making a buck off the real estate then customer satisfaction doesn't really matter right?

That was probably Eddie's half a** attempt at damage control after getting called out 3 months by a salesperson that knows nothing.

Go Forward is real and the SF office is a major part of it. The smaller Home and Life stores are going to be major destinations across the country, new Die Hard and Kenmore products are coming, and customer loyalty remains high.

Things are slowly getting better. Sears will be back in the top five retailers within two to three years.

Sears needs to stay retail in nature until the tax carryover losses transfer over from old Sears

The sf office should have been closed long ago
Why have an office in one of the most expensive cities in the US when Hoffman is sitting mostly empty?
shows how Eddie had no idea how to run a retail company

Even the Sears online presence is lousy. Customers complain regularly about it and our web orders have slowly been decreasing. Their experience with other retailers is much better than Sears.

Why is there still a mega expensive San Francisco Apparel Buying Office with many six digit salaries? FLS are being closed very fast and apparel is shrinking even faster in the remaining stores. The clothing has looked cheap and poorly designed for years and Eddie still thinks apparel at Sears and Kmart is viable? With all the empty space at HE, any company with a viable financial plan would have closed the SF office and moved the "empty space" in the SF office to empty space in HE.

Even the liquidation sales are dead. Stopped by mid rivers store. Might have been 10 people wandering around.

I can confirm the paradise store is closed, I drove by it about a month ago.

The Store looked empty but the indoor part of the garden shop still had plants inside...of course all were dead. That was a little creepy.

The go forward plan is

Going out of business

Is the one in Paradise (CA) still open or not? Despite what some people said way back then, the store didn't burn down but it's been removed from the store locator.

Yep.. Only reason it still exists is because it has to for the tax benefits. That is old news. It probably needs to remain retail in nature, hence the purchase of the Hometown Stores. I would safely say with only 199 Sears and 196 K-Mart's left the remainder will be closed after Christmas this year or sold off to other chains. I can see Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands going as a block and California as a separate block - maybe New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania too, and Guam will become a WalMart. All the others will be closed and redeveloped.

There were many plans over the past 14 years. Many transformations. Many people hired "who have the right stuff". Many people let go due to changes and reductions and just not doing what we want. Many store closings to become profitable again. Many sunrises. Many sunsets. Many trips to the bathroom.

NONE of it ever did anything.

Ever wonder if Eddie just shakes his head at how we post on this forum and many other places as if we are just now starting to understand this or for many, just don't understand it at all? After 14 years, many people are blind to it.

Sears is a zombie retailer, it exists for Eddie and his cronies to play their financial shenanigans to line their pockets. Those that stay are only helping him to prolong the slow death and looting

Agree with the op. The online shopping experience gets worse by the day too so even that isn't being handled well.
