Thread regarding Fry's Electronics layoffs

Frys San Marcos California empty

Just went there, only 2 cashiers, and lots of empty shelves, and rows in departments gone, like entire row of camera stuff, appliance area all open, and there are warehouse racks at this end of the building, used to be full of product, all empty. The DVD section has single copies spaced out to cover the blanks space. The topper was that for the first time for me in ANY Fry's, there was no person checking your bags on the way out the door. I guess they are giving up.

The San Marcos store is closing. That might be the reason their customer service, the return policy and the employee attitude was so bad the last time I was there last week. The manager was a jerk!

At the San Marcos location the battery section is almost completely empty(only alkaline available), and a few other areas as well, an employee said they haven't received any battery shipments because of the china trade war.
Odd since the new 10% tariff on lithium batteries and other products start 9/1/19?, and the shelves have been empty for a while.

All other signs point to cost cutting, minimal staff, dimmer lights, etc –>financial/ vendor/supplier issues ?

Weird. Exact same thing happened to me at the Oxnard Frys today.
The guy said they weren’t closing. But it sure looked like they were!
