Corp office, layoffs to take place before move. Management go offsite to Foxwoods to play stud game as they decide your fate! 😉
Staples' future is bleak. No need to stay around if the market is good. I was laid off last year. Similar to @106tFuNR-5hih, it was the best thing to happen to me. I found a job that pays more and treats me better. I was able to collect UI, severance and get a sign-on bonus with my new job! Getting laid off was the best thing to happen!
If you are let go it’s not the end of the world. I was left to go in January and it was the best thing that could’ve happened to me. I used my severance to get into a A new career. In fact I saw the writing on the wall I started my career before Staples left me go. I will make more money in seven months than I did in my best year at Staples and have respect for my work that was lacking the last 4 years under a new manager. Nothing last forever. There is no appreciation for your dedication and loyalty or length of service does not matter. Staples is corporation with no feelings It’s all about money. Now it is time for you to make it about you and money for you. Don’t fear the unknown. Make the first move that’s the only way you can control your outcome.
Sandy is honest. Sales is down, they want to cut cost, payroll is off the roof, nothing personal, you make ton of money doing any regular job, you are gone, 20 years of service, no one will care. Look, get your resume together, if you can’t afford to be unemployed, get going. Supply Chain s—s, no strong leader, it’s a shame. Better get someone in ASAP. It s—s to work for Staples at this time. And people are heartless, mean, and selfish. Sandy is Cool! I like him. He seems like a good man, seems very fair. Wish everyone the best and remember this isn’t the end of the world. So relax!
Toys-R-us was in a far better position to handle that much debt than Staples is now and they could not make a go of it. Not sure how long it took toys to collapse but it went down like a rock. Since Staples is privately held there is no requirement for earnings reports but 1 would assume if they were good they would be out there.
For future reference...

Just curious, how long did Toys R Us last after being saddled with $6b in debt? Would seem a likely predictor of Staples fate.
The beatings will continue until moral improves.
Oh, shut up.

Morale is extremely low, what cannot go on will not.
Nothing to see here folks, just move along
Everything is fine though.
