Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Lay offs

We have heard from a1st line manager in the area that there will be a 15% in employee reduction and that we will take a sharp decrease in production rate. I am a worker on the floor and I see it, we constantly have down days where we just sit and do nothing...

Apparently, the MAX program won't be approved until the end of summer or early fall. I'd be surprised if the lay off numbers were low. It's going to take laying off more than assembly line workers to save money. I can see a aircraft mechanics being laid off too, especially those with less than a year on the job.

Some freshly new bean counters don’t even have any experience; they are very aggressive and willing to cut corner or work around to get their daily number. Need to get rid of these bean counters or managers as they are called to bring the quality back.

It cost Boeing Millions to build each 737 MAX. They don't get paid until they make delivery to the customer. They can't sustain the current production rate or employment levels for much longer. Rumor has it that there will be an announcement of a rate reduction coming soon.

Stop hiring "managers" with no supply chain and manufacturing backgrounds to run the biggest aerospace company in the world and expect to get respect from shop personal. That's the biggest flaw of this place now. On the other hand, managers need to start having the balls to CAM people who are literally milking the clock while people who actually care come to work everyday and try to make a difference.

All Boeing needs to do is to let go all the bean counters. Those are the ones that bring the quality of the Boeing aircraft down.

Is the 15% cut in Management ranks? If not, it should be, including HR types, but 15% is way to low, make it 40%, that's a good start. Boeing is top heavy with to many Managers with not a lot to do. As for Boeing HR, why is there five levels of Managers in HR for each Boeing Division? Boeing needs to really thin his heard down and pronto.

Heard the same thing from a manager here. With so much at stake and no end in sight, it won't surprise me if we get multiple waves of layoffs, so long as they don't know when the 737 delivery will go back to normal.
