Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Not looking forward to today

After yesterday, today is going to be even worse. Not in numbers of laid off people - I have no idea where we are there. What I mean is that after suffering the stress and anxiety of yesterday, with no time to relax the mental strain is only going to increase today. If this really continues throughout the week, it will end up being one of the worse weeks of my life.

Went through all of this at GM in Feb. Sounds just like what we experienced. Im 55+ and survived. It was a lot of anxiety even though I felt somewhat secure because of the line of work. It was an empty feeling after the relief. It sure made me appreciative of what I have.

The way they have rolled this out is horrible. My job is safe (for now) but the stress on everyone is palpable. Anxiety is so bad and can’t help but think this could have been done in a much better way.

55 is the new 45 so please don't worry about your age stopping you from getting a new job.

We have daily stand ups with our product manager who was moved to a different part of the business yesterday. So today should be interesting.

I'm not sure which creates more stress -- waiting around to find out if I still have a job on Friday this week (knowing a 5 year plan to cut 10% each year is still coming), or being terminated today knowing I need another job but who hires anyone past 55 years old?

I wonder how many will now find other jobs and leave. In this economy with historic low unemployment, Ford might be scrambling to keep people.
