Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Reality Check: Do you really think 500 will move the needle in any direction?

I am afraid 500 is just not enough to alter things (for better or worse) on a macro scale. 5K in Germany is expected and overdue as we have been losing ground for some time and this ain't stopping - so really, no impact there, that battle and that war has been lost for a while.

Now, let's switch things to the domestic front. 500 is not even one percent of the salaried workforce, so what are we really trying to "REDESIGN"?

If we make an assumptions that the predictions of losing 10% of our top revenue in next four years is a real situation we have to face - how is 500 gonna cover this?

I'd say we'll be facing at least two more major rounds of cuts in over next 18 months.

Please take this rant with a grain of salt, I am a grunt GSR in PD, so I might be waaaayyyy off here...

Better believe you'll be absorbing work. Does anybody really think workload will decrease with less headcount?

Couple that with more work moving overseas to India and Mexico. Enjoy the delays and inefficiencies caused just to save a few dollars.

The way it was explained to me is that it wasn't as large in North America because we're absorbing the work the people cut in the other regions were doing.
