Thread regarding Fry's Electronics layoffs

The store in Houston, TX is also very sad to see. Everything is overpriced. Only generic brands and trashy items in stock. The place is very disorganized (energy drinks in the computer accessories aisle), a lot of employees doing nothing.

As an ex Fry's supplier we have plenty of stock and would have loved to continue supplying them if they would have just paid their bills on time or even close to on time. We gave them a lot of chances to get their act together, actually one too many, and ended up having to take them to collections. Their issues with non-payment began way before the tariffs went into effect, When you are a small company you can't wait a year to get paid so you have to do what is best for the company and cut them off. Not everything is imported from countries that were hit with Trump's stupid tariff.

If it was the tariffs then why are other companies not having stocking issues IE Best Buy, Walmart, Costco, and even Amazon.

It is not Fry’s but the wholesaler, supplier doesn’t has anything to provide since Trump’s trade war stuff with tariff, it has been too risky for the importer to get anything from overseas since the currency rate is changing too, the tariff has shows up to heart us and this year will be a funny strange holiday

Noting the empty shelves, I asked an employee at the Sunnyvale store "are you going out of business?" He replied "it looks that way." That was a vague answer. Not sure if he meant that "it looks that way" because of the empty shelves, or if because management told him something.

I was in the store at Duluth, GA, and same situation. Very sad since it was a great place to get electronic components and great items on their daily sales. Also, they were a great competitor to Microcenter keeping the prices in check. Very Sad.

As a recently former employee. You are correct. Fry's has quit on itself and it's all from Fry's Corporate. Fry's home office has given the direction to. No longer hire new people to our store. The department manager positions were eliminated last month. We currently have no delivery drivers. We no longer transferring product between our stores. Also 90% of full time employees have been moved to part time. There are some people that who were working 40 hours/week are now getting less than 12. The Downers Grove location is a sinking ship and people are abandoning it.

I was in the one in Fremont, CA yesterday and it looks like their inventory was 70-80 percent less then my last visit a month or two ago.

Went in to one yesterday here in AZ and the shelf were bare and I asked the associate if they were going out of business and he said not that he knows of but the fi Tim’s associates are only getting 32 hours and the part time are barely getting any hours. All associates seemed upset and worried. Sad site to see!

Went to the one in San Marcos, CA and noticed that a lot of the inventory was moved around from where it was a few months ago. Many of the PC peripherals were missing from the aisles as were the bargain bins, which are udually scattered throughout the store. Many people asked if I needed help. It was errie hoe much stuff was missing off of the shelves though.

Was in the one in Milton GA today. We thought the same thing. Nothing on the shelves. I even asked the guy if they were going out of business. He hesitated and then said no.

You have to ask for assistance so they know you are not still looking for things. We went to Wilsonville OR yesterday and - yes - the store and the shelves were pretty empty but we did get help. A very nice young man spent at least and hour helping our son put together a new computer. I cannot say enough good things about the staff and the help we received from both sales and service. It's unfortunate how empty the store was. Hopefully things will turn around for them.

Even worse, 80%...80% of the computer cases on display were NOT IN STOCK. - that is also nothing new but gotten worse

But yes there seem to be on their last legs suppliers are not sending product as they have them cut off due to non payment. -

Micro Center closed there store in my area back in 2012-2013 due to their rent doubling and decided to close up shop not just move.
