Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

You may want to start looking for other jobs

The best I can tell anyone working for Walmart or Sam’s club is to start looking for other jobs. They are overhauling their business to benefit the shareholders. They are not people oriented like they use to be. It’s all bs and you can see by the recent layoffs of the Personnel team in Sam’s club. Don’t get comfy Walmart yours is next. They want to beat Amazon so bad but are losing their talent to Amazon. Sure terminate or eliminate the people who dedicated their entire lives to their company and this is the thanks they get. Smh!! I am done with Walmart I have family and friends who gave their all and now regret it. Oh and department managers you’re next. Good luck!!

Though it is true that all companies are in business to make a profit, the manner in which they do business and how they treat their staff is not all the same.

Compounding that is the fact that taxes on labor penalize hiring labor, which drives companies to automate and downsize - boosting unemployment - an unwanted consequence of socialist taxes.

Frankly, the management appears to be composed of folks who haven't actually worked in retail, and have no vision for the future of the company beyond the next quarterly earnings report. Mistreating long term employees and easing them out to save on personnel costs will bite them in a tender place.

All those factors add up to a company about to shoot itself in its own appendage or reasonable facsimile thereof.

I worked as a Logistics manager for a few years with Wal-Mart. This company makes money despite itself. Their sheer volume has allowed them to overlook the inequities of mediocre employees and management. They are simply restructuring management to squeeze more out of a system that is slowly made antiquated by technology. They are way behind on technology. The logistics managers will be replaced by hourly "supervisors" at 60% the cost. The lower rungs being axed in Bentonville isn't a real surprise. I saw a lot of "purchaser" positions that were a joke, usually a 25 year old with no experience. They would just have the legal department finish up the contract details for them. Amazing that the Walton's never took back the company. It's a shame that Doug McMillion(the man who never been employed outside of Sam's and Wal-Mart) continues to lead this flailing organization.

Walmart will never beat Amazon. The reason is simple and obvious: compared to the senior executives at Amazon, the senior executives at Walmart are clueless ret@rds.

I hate to break it to you but Walmart, nor any other company, is in business to employ people. The business of business is to make money for its shareholders. Period. Jobs are a means to that end. A company will do its best to treat its staff as best as they can because its through the efforts of the staff that a company makes money but competitive pressure is always forcing business to adapt and change. Sometimes that means changes in staffing. Were you upset when WM switched from cashiers having to type in product prices rather than being able to simply scan barcodes? It led to job losses so you should have been. Saying that greed drives staffing is mind numbingly ignorant. Whose greed? The Waltons? Doug? The C-level execs? If Walmart doesn’t remain competitive then no one will have a job here. Would you prefer that?
