Layoffs are coming in April folks.

Get AHEAD of this and start prepping NOW for technical interviews before the avalanche hits you.

If you start Leetcode now, by early Fall you'll be in championship form to go through the Stargate!

DO IT!!

I pray for all you guys that you make it through all of this drama. In the meantime, prep technically (for many, Leetcode) and look around, IF you want.

Just look at how stocks have done at other companies in the last months. Just compare Arista, Cisco, others versus J's stock price. Heck, in one month alone Arista has gone up by $30, and from $189 to $300+ in 3 months....or $40 to $54 for Cisco (3 mo.). Look at your RSUs (if you even get any!) and then calculate. Do some math! This is lost income in your pocket that adds up to A LOT over 10 years!

When one leaves, you have no idea how it FEELS to be in a STABLE company without the EVERY 3 month layoff fear, in addition to getting a good sign-on and a PLEASING(!) tranche of RSUs that actually DOES markedly go up (then you have yearly refreshers!).

The slog of prepping is definitely worth it--not only monetarily, but much more importantly: PEACE of Mind!

I know many who'll stay and will wait for a package and THEN will look/prep (these guys have a cushion of a working spouse though). But the economy can change and companies can button down the hatches--then you're even more SOL.

Isn't it better to be PROACTIVE in this strong economy? I know one guy at Blackberry that wouldn't leave until he was fired and then the economy went sour. It took him 2 years to find something meh (insignificant start-up)--he never recovered as his resume lost its prestige. Look at toxic scandal-ridden Theranos--read articles about how many CAN'T find jobs (especially those who stayed to the end instead if being proactive when Theranos was in the midst of the scandal).

Your skill set matters most and can land you jobs at FANG, no doubt! Like many who've done it the last 2-3 years. But the CURRENT prestige of a company matters too. You're competing against others with brand name companies--remember that! Juniper was alpha dog a decade ago, but in SV terms that's a lifetime ago and this may negatively impact you in the future (depending if J finds its legs).

One thing's for sure, other companies strive for better culture, training and have stable workforce with much better comp. AND employees at those companies DO(!!) get hit up CONSTANTLY by recruiters. So a guy at FANG, gets a better offer 1-2 years to join Uber, Lyft, AirbnB, etc, etc at double the pay! The adventure of your career is being UNLIVED(!!) folks. Take this into consideration when your brain is telling you "Wait for the package". The future is uncertain. So...Take CONTROL. SLOG IT OUT. URGENTLY PREP.....BENEFIT....BE HAPPY!!! The world is yours IF you become Rocky and hit the "gym"!

God Bless!

Thinking about the company wants to do exactly the same thing.

They want people to go out voluntarily instead of paying layoff packages and get rid of legal stuff.

On the side, the upper management will reach out to the most important folks and give them confidence that the company is working on completely new things cutting off all the fat like a startup.

For everyone who isn't told that you are safe, you are really not safe.

This is how usually companies re-invent themselves when things are failing and make a whole new paradigm shift.

This is what Apple (in 2000), Microsoft (from windows to cloud transition), IBM (from hardware to software, though they are still struggling) did to get over.

The hope for the board, investors and important employee's is that management takes the right decisions and executes well on them.

This death be a thousand slices is excruciating! This is so morale draining. I can't believe that the company doesn't get the damage it does.

If layoffs are ONCE a year, folks can stay put for a while from looking and BE productive.

If one knows layoffs are coming every 3 months, people become desperate to leave. They WON'T wait anymore. Job prospecting becomes THE full-time task instead of working.

Productivity/competitiveness of the company consequently takes a big hit in the stomach b/c of the situational reality they're creating for their people.

This is not a way to keep good people tethered to stay!

Cmon people. 15 March is a few days away. Everyone knows juniper operates on a regular six month layoff cycle, so may or June it will be. If your resume has spelling errors or you can't pretend that you've done anything of impact since joining juniper, nows the time to come up with a good story.

15th of March or May?

No need to warn people about specific date! Juniper is silently laying off entire teams every quarter, even high performing or strategic teams (look at OpenLab). It's really comes down to short term cost cutting and executives holding grudges. Here in EMEA, we've seen several top SEs leave this sinking ship.

The reality is, by publicizing the planned layoff activities on this site and others like this, companies are forced to actively make an effort to reduce the impact of these layoffs.

Discussion of layoff activities make managers and execs think twice about what they are about to do. It makes them realize that these decisions can debilitate careers, life's and dreams of not juts the employee, but their families. It reminds them and makes them realize their goal should be to minimize the damage. Not maximimizr the layoffs and corporate profits at the expense of a few hard-working people.

Remember, these events affect real lives. Real people. They can be avoided.

I agree with @XWHqfvz-bmj. All the previous talk of D-Day level layoffs did not come to pass. Mgmt is fighting guerrilla war - they do border skirmish style. They pick off a few people stupidly poking their heads up, and then go back into the bushes until the next op ex cut target is set. If you live long enough at juniper, your time will be up sooner or later.

Agree with the pony poster...none of the “massive”, “bloodbath” layoffs talked about as “CONFIRMED’ here have come to pass. This company is perfectly happy dying by a never-ending series of small, tiny cuts until it has completely bled out slowly. I have no inside knowledge, just living this nightmare for multiple years now.

A pony - seriously? A teenage girl - seriously? With all of the age-ism at Juniper I’d say this baby boomer poster better watch his back on May 15th!

I know what is happening on March 15th and this scaremongering is blowing it way out of proportion. Most of these posts are from sociopaths trying to undermine the company from within, the corporate equivalent of a teenage girl stamping her feet because daddy didnt buy her a pony.

It would be illogical if one were not already looking and up-skilling oneself whether your in development or on the GTM Sales org. It will be ugly.
