Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Enrollment Manager Layoffs

Did anyone hear about managers being laid off in Phoenix? Laid off, fired or quit? I heard there were 3 or 4. Anyone know if this is true?

If so, it shows we are still on a trend of downsizing. If we had so many students to enroll, we would need all the manager possible.

That’s the million dollar question. No one knows what VPs and directors do.

Can someone seriously tell us what they do?

Check reports? Listen to calls? Strategize?

Not sure. But we don’t need more than ONE VP and need ZERO directors.

Wasting money and they should recognize that. If not, whoever they sell the company to will recognize that.

Ron K can easily be cut. I know he LOVES to talk about himself and what he’s done for other mill degree colleges, but he’s definitely a snake oil salesmen. Him and Brett R are NOT to be trusted. Just listen to them not answer questions openly and their messages. Fake as a $3 bill. I am warning everyone reading this. Get out before they cut down to 2-3 campuses. It’s coming.

My manager and a few others already have 16 ERs that they manager and we do just fine. Directors and VPs - what’s there role?

I agree, we don’t need directors. Really, all we need is one VP and some managers.

What do directors do? Well, they yell at managers. They do not coach. I think they run report. It’s an easy way for the school to cut costs. The new president is showing he lacks good business skills. Why keep all these high paying positions?

Our director just yells at our manager. We can hear her in her office.

This is how it goes. Brett yells at director and director yells at manager and manager yells at ER. It would be laughable if it wasn’t so sad. These “leaders” have no idea what they are doing.

It’s not surprising that other schools are filling the area that UoP used to dominate.

We dont need any directors at all! To heck with them. All we need is one manager to 12 to 15 reps. Fire the rest. They do nothing add zero value and are irrelevant to student experience. Keep your frontline happy and the students will do better. Amazes me how UOP has no clue. Friggin id--ts!!

Most/probably 75% of the Enrollment Managers have no Sales and/or Sales Mgt experience prior to working for U of PX and are id--ts ! They got promoted when U of PX was booming. For the new owners we don't need 1 Enrollment Mgr for 8 Enrollment Advisors...lol...making the money they are making...period ! They are overpaid ! Same for the directors ! We don't need very many directors...lol...share your thoughts !

Regardless of owner, the product sold is nothing different or innovative from what other community colleges, state universities, for-profit universities, etc. has to offer. Consumers have the ability to attend college online anywhere now, for a lot less. UOP will never be what it once was, and will continue to shrink until it is no longer sustainable as a business.

We just need to get sold again where there is an owner that wants to grow for the future and not set us up for pulling every penny.

Interesting no one can confirm original posts question.

I agree with previous poster, we are extremely top heavy. Many VP’s and Directors need to go. They only yell at the front line and really provide no value to the company. Nothing they have suggested or implemented has had meaningful impact to our company.

Soon to be 11 years of mismanagement.

Mismanagement at UoPX has been much longer than 10 years. Did you read John D. Murphy's Mission Forsaken?

University is top heavy. The new owners need to review the leaders who have mismanaged the university for the last 10 years.

It's permanent downsizing, obviously.
