Why would they cut a lot of the contractors when they are inexpensive to hire and they don’t have to pay out bennefits?

Well Maria does not like contractors for some reason. It is also easier to get rid of us too...less bad PR I guess.
@1nag if you didn't know that, it means you have never worked at Thithco. Contractors have a red border on their employee photo ID badge hence the name. Btw, Blue badge means Fulltime/permanet employee.
Oh, so Red Badge == Contractor
I thought Red Badge meant management. Lol.
I’m a red badge that makes fifteen dollars an hour. I shouldn’t be too concerned with the lay-off then.
Companies like Wipro had made campuses in 100s of acres by merely supplying red badges to Cisco and others. They are very expensive compared to the blue badge in cost.
yes make 100 dollars an hour, contractor gets 200 an hour, dont do anything but get coffee and watch the 5k ever two week paychecks role in, blue badges work like dogs, get paid half as much.
it's all about metrics at Cisco, which are dictated by SVPs
SVP asks for less red badges... followed by VPs/Directors making the headcount cuts
SVP is awarded more stock
VP is awarded more stock
Director is award more stock
Individual Contributor is now homeless
... followed by Cisco PR issuing a press release on homelessness and diversity
No package is paid out to them. They get only 2 weeks, sometimes a week's notice for the LR. Some contracting companies are charging CSCO about $200k per head, especially in he US. I know a buddy of mine who is a contractor and is making $90/hr, doing work which can be done a by a GR6 with 1yr experience.
