If there will be no Ford Layoffs in 2019 please say so?

I think it's important to do the math and not listen to the reassurances of middle and upper management. North America will lose 5-10k people. By the end of Q2. Ford won't get to that number by just laying off middle management and contractors.
I have packed up my desk and carry my laptop to and from work each day. All of my personal items are long gone from my desk.
I am in my fifties and although I am a solid achiever status employee with top achiever rankings sometimes, I am not as well connected as some of my coworkers. I don't feel like I have anyone protecting me, so I am ready to face the inevitable if and when the time comes.
My thoughts are with all of us as we buckle down and wait to see if we are tapped on the shoulder. We will all survive this. Remember, at the end of the day, it's just a job.
interesting post on Ford history, but another big miss is the lack of investment for the last 10 yyears in the econoline which clearly was a trades& van workhorse. Bill junior seems to think that what works in Europe for vehicle works here!
look at the "hunk of junk Transit" going to the inibody, small wheels and lack of drive safety on snow, ice, rainy roads ha driven up the price of econolines or taken loyal Ford buyers to get new GMC or Chevy vans for a reason. All the features on the Transit could have been implemented on the Econoline had done real product planningan not listening to the Euopean management. what may work in Europe does not work here. I think Bill & his "team" think because the brits speak different they are smarter or that they have greater vision, if thats the case I ask " when is the last time europe made money... really made money and not a shell game,????
GM was smart in many of their moves although there is one big issue we should have required them to do and that is pay back all the $$$ in the taxpayer loans, sane for FCA, if not President Obama/ congress should have looked ahead on all the offshoring of jobs.
Hacket and Ford killing small vehicles is dumb, electric/ autonomous are nice options to have but not necessarily even close to being there for 10 years, hybrid is. But it will be driven by success and available infrastructure.... Folks we are not there yet nor will it be for 30 years
Auto company's should re visit Henry Fords model, control you destiny by bringing in more key componants in house.
Focus on core engineering and find someone that really understands manufacturing complexity of the auto industry and not inert desks, or just because their name is on the building, makes people think they are super smart.
Wake up America!
rumors for north america are 3k to 7k with focus on middle msnagent, contractors an engineering management that support announced discontinued vehicles.
It gives me the feeling of deja vu all over again Ford research has made so many mistakes in the past, maybe they should just do software.
History: we get out of the tractor market, we get out of heavy trucks, we elliminate the mid size van the Aerostar, we sell the Associates, the Windstar & replace it with the cheapened Freestar, we elliminate the Ranger, we stop the Focus, Fiesta, and as usual wrong decisions.
Spending money on the train station is a nice thing but a billion dollars to create a legacy?
I am of the opinion that in the end Mr Hatchet is doing Ford familys bidding. Downsize the company, outsorce manufacturing, the family keeps profitable entities, merge or sell off the Ford name and move on....
Fitness initiatives webcasts in the can. Expect broadcast before holiday break to employees. US actions 2019.
My husband works as a contractor in Dearborn.... I am physically sick thinking how today is going to end??? Now I’m desperate to find out What Time the announcement is going to be made.
Depends on what region you’re in I suppose. Personally, I spent 2019 to be an awful year when the company starts to reveal its plans for ‘restructuring’ and then start to implement those plans by way forced and voluntary redundancies. We have openly been told by the company that it needs to get smaller. Only one way that’s gonna happen and that’s plant closures and job losses.
I wish you the very best of luck whatever happens.
