Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Can he do this?

Anybody believes Jacobs can actually pull this off?

I thought this sounded too far fetched when there was first mention of it, but now that he is renewing his intent and getting serious about it...

I don't know, I'm starting to think he might have some kind of an ace up his sleeve.

So what's the general opinion, can he pull it off?

he's not capable of running a company .his past record shows that. nepotism at its finest. nowhere without daddy handing him it to him on a silver platter and even then he took it to the ground

I agree that Paul's private life has nothing to do with this. I also agree that he had his failures (MediaFLO, Digital Cinema, etc.) but still the Wall Street and the Main street respected him and also us, engineers and our products. Moreover no one could successfully sue us because of the Jacobs reputation (remember the Nokia law suit and who won), These days even lightweights like Black Berry win not to mention Apple, China, and our own FTC. When he left the company was overrun by VPs and Senior Director who go from a meeting to a meeting demanding more and more KPIs and at the same having not made a technical contribution since the days of Globalstar. I can start listing names but then the site would crash due to data overload, I was always surprised how they can live with themselves when they surely must realize they contribute nothing to Qualcomm and people around them.) I am sorry that I did not leave when Paul left. Only afterwards I understood how much was I in a sense stifled by the unhealthy atmosphere they created.

He should be speaking to Elon Musk. Think about it: he has money, a car business, a solar business, a space launch business, and he is looking to bore tunnels thru Los Angeles to eleviate some traffic. We have technology for cars, transportation, connectivity, and we have traffic in both San Diego and the Bay Area. He already in the Silicon Valley area a couple days a week without a house. He can sleep in his Qualcomm office. Just saying, this is whose door I would be knocking on.

He cannot. Look at his past record. MediaFlo, Brew, Iridigm, QChat , Flarion and so on
