Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Question from a legacy GE employee

Baker Hughes.

Just how badly did GE screw you guys when we merged?

Do you guys get the GE pension? Unlimited vacation if salary?

We were always GE but told last week we are staying in Baker Hughes when they divest. Wondering how our benefits will change since the BS email we got from Lorenzo yesterday just said "they don't foresee a change in benefits" which simply means they don't have the lube ready so they can give it to us.

Thanks

Again you get it wrong. It’s 8% and the wonderful bakerhughes pays 16% to make it up to 24%. The sooner we go back to just bakerhughes the better.we don’t need GE or any one else

I thought the benefit "harmonization" only started in US. GE pension plans also differ in different region, so most likely fellows in UK will get to keep their pension. For US, I don't think GE benefit was any where near BHI so I feel sorry for those legacy BHI employee that were harmonized to our crappy level. On the other hand, that's probably part of the strategy to achieve cost synergy through voluntary attrition.

As for why we legacy GE stay with such benefit, first it didn't started out like that, it's gradually reduced following our near bankruptcy in 2009. And secondly, at least for me, we can pretty much work on any industry, from aerospace to transportation to health care, just inside the company without losing the pension and can continue accrue year of service. If GE bugs out of BHGE and cut that link, Lorenzo better have some good compensations for it.

Well BHI had some of the best benefits I've ever seen, how GE which is such a large company could have such sh-- benefits is beyond me.

Every single person at BHI lost the pension, there is some continuation thing over the next year where we get some tiny bonus to make up for the company no longer supplying a pension plan. Also the healthcare premiums tripled if not more. Yes the vacation is unlimited. BHI 100% matched 401k contributions up to 5 percent.
