Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Bulls make money, bears make money, pigs get slaughtered

Through their greedy mishandling of employees and layoffs, ELT has turned Enbridge into a pig.

But really, what did they think would happen? History has proven that what goes around really does come around.

You get the feeling that this was the kid who cheated at games to make himself look better. News for you buddy. The other kids knew and didn’t forget.

Happens to men too. Depends on who your friends are.

Is Al a misogynist? Seems like the type but I’ve never spoken with him.

Interesting, how s-xism works. At Enbridge it takes the form, not so much of blatant discrimination, but of simply leaving women out. If you’re a woman, your questions aren’t answered, your input is dismissed and, easiest of all, you just aren’t invited to the meeting.

Nothing serious. No full frontal assaults. Just an unrelenting and insidious message that you’re not good enough and not welcome.

That’s how s-xism works at Enbridge, and I’m not surprised it was at the root of the Marshall spill.

Clear message from my boss: Don’t ask questions because you’re irritating me and because I either don’t know or wouldn’t tell you the answers anyway. You are too lowly. Just keep your head down and trust that we know what we’re doing.

But I kept asking (couldn’t help myself), so was fired. Problem solved for them.

Thing is, I was asking important questions. And now no one asks them, because the people left want to keep their jobs.

So I ask you: Is that the culture of a heathy company? Is this the kind of company you trust to ensure your clean drinking water? Is this a place you’d want your daughter to work?

Worse than Keystone Cops.

By mistreating the employees who built Enbridge, and by turning the company into an unfeeling factory where employees are treated like cattle, Al has destroyed the company’s foundations.

And we’re trusting him with the Great Lakes?

I am extremely worried about how Enbridge’s deteriorating culture, and the secrecy that prevails, are impacting the company’s need to stay focused on safety and integrity.

The Marshall spill was largely the result of compounded cultural issues, beginning with the fact that certain control room supervisors wouldn’t take seriously the concerns of a certain operator who saw a problem. When the operator (a female in a male dominated work environment) alerted the supervisors to the problem, her make bosses dismissed her concerns, and, instead increased the pressure in the pipe.

After two years of brutal attacks, Enbridge’s culture has been weakened to an all-time low (lots of infighting, no loyalty, no one shares information anymore), and arrogance runs high among the company’s leaders.

Such a cultural both creates the perfect environment for a major incident, and weakens employees’ ability to respond to a crisis.

And we’re leaving the fate of the Great Lakes to this?

It really scares me.

I just really hope that, given all the jerking around that Enbridge’s employees have been subjected to over the last two years, the people in pipeline integrity don’t shirk off their responsibilities in any way. The water in the Great Lskes is a big deal and nothing to be trifled with,

Al is cutting employees to the bone and reducing their salaries and pensions. He has said that safety won’t be impacted but, given the secret that was just revealed about damages to Line 5, I have to wonder.

Does Al really understand the gravity of his responsibility? He seems so cavalier about his treatment of employees. And people who speak up are visibly punished, sending a clear message to other employees to mind their own business.

I worry that Enbridge is in no shape to withstand a crisis at this point.

But I don’t get the sense that anyone cares.

If the pipes burst under the Straits or under the Niagara River, and Al hasn’t been honest about the safety records, he’ll go to jail.

The Marshall congressional hearings were nothing.

I know Al is immoral. Wonder if any of his secret undertakings are also illegal. Hiding damage to pipes under the Great Lakes certainly veers in that direction.

For the love of God, Al, please get the help you need. You’re drowning and taking everyone with you.

Hey shiny new potential employee! Want to be treated like a cog in the machine? Like a number in a prison camp? Like a piece of trash that gets discarded as soon as you become too expensive and have earned a pension? Welcome to Enbridge! If you keep your mouth shut and don’t ask too many questions, you can stay around a while! Enjoy! And, remember, E=Amazing Together!
