Massive layoffs yesterday. Nearly all of IT outsourced to Tata. Also, strong rumors that Fam is leaving.

moral calamities are always disturbing to the morally bankrupt. I watched the FM-style story at several previous companies. when you reward lies, you get more lies. and when you punish honesty, you get less of it.

personally, I'd put the Feb bonus out of mind and take a new job as quickly as possible. you have no guarantee of the bonus and even a month of two of unemployment negates it.

Many of those hit by the last round of layoffs are highly skilled and trained engineers and operations management with Masters degrees. I am proud to have worked with these exceptional team. The rapidness of the change - and some groups that had no immediate expectation to be let go - is causing a but of frustration and is understandably pissing people off. The company will find that many projects and day to day support efforts for L1, L2, L3 will be impacted, site down, business lost. But that is the cost of such a transformation and the dissection of what used to be a fantastic company to work for.

Neanderthal, snarky 'know it all' responses from external individuals really add no value to this thread.

a good chance of a major credit card hack in 2018. lots of incentive from 40% paycuts and turmoil of the change plus lots of unskilled people with unvetted backgrounds.

1) This affected some operational staff, but mostly Engineering.

2) TCS started advertising these positions a week ago on indeed.com. https://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=TCS&l=framingham%2C+ma

3) Not one f---ing person will be brought over to TCS. From the broken Engrish of the job descriptions posted, they are looking for operational staff, at a pay rate of 60-75% of what the outsourced positions salaries are.

Staples and TCS have you trapped. Since no one will be retained by TCS, if you leave before Feb 1 you get NO BONUS. So you are trapped into staying until Feb 1 for a chance at a bonus so you can train the incompetent imports TCS has brought in to replace you.

Remember Corporate America: you get what you pay for. I'm going to investigate all legal options to raise hell. I'll be reaching out to my congressman (since this Federal - crossing state lines), an attorney (discrimination), the Press, and the FTC (H1B program abuse). I encourage others to do the same.

The severance policy on the hub is still being honored for the moment. If you work at Staples currently, you should be interviewing, unless you want the severance. If on the outside, avoid this company at all costs.

I feel bad for the operational IT people that will get the sack and also for the business teams that will need to count on the TCS counterparts to take care of the daily IT operations. You'd think that Staples would have learned after the disastrous experience of outsourcing 1st line support to India, but I guess not.

Anyway, let this be a lesson to all people that remain with Staples. You mean absolutely nothing to the people in charge, they would outsource each and every one of you if it meant saving some money and getting a fat bonus.

Around 60 in IT let go with this one, as said mainly operational staff but also mid-level management personal vendetta targets and high salaries. No amount of spin will change morale, it was permanently toxic even before the buyout due to years of mismanagement: FM is an awful leader but the ship has been sinking for a while. Assume more wholesale outsourcing, replacement, and attrition accordingly. Yes, it is a s#itshow, but this is not anything new.

No logic whatsoever. No clarity only indecisiveness and insecurity. Work environment is only about stupid politics.

No one has a bloody clue about anything.

Run before you are the target of getting outsourced as well!

Layoffs happened across both of it's 2 corporate offices, Framingham MA, and Broomfield CO. Affected employees will have a chance to interview with TCS in October... Those hired by TCS will leave Staples for TCS in November, while the rest will stay with Staples until February. Nearly all of operational IT got this news yesterday. They gave them the rest of the day & today off... Which effectively shut down Staples Corporate until Monday.
