Thread regarding GE Digital layoffs

Outsource Global Ops

You want to save money Flannery? Time to dump the overpriced, over staffed, under performing Global Ops division. Call IBM and HP and they will do it cheaper and better. Every time Core Tech does a reorg it's just shifting the same people around and around. Nothing new. Just the same old car with a different paint job. Looks new until you realize performance is even worse. You can save a ton of money outsourcing. Now is the right time for a smaller GE. Get rid of Core Tech.

Data lake? More like data swamp. Did you see the latest “discovery” they did? Loaded with false positives. Please outsource these guys quick!

In the nearly two decades I have been with GE, it appears that central services do not work well at GE. There are those who think that they can do it better, cheaper than the businesses can do it themselves. However, what I find is you get what you pay for. CoreTech doesn’t really take to heart what the businesses complained about. They assume they are infallible and it is what it is. The new billing model is ridiculous. The implementation of GEIT ServiceNow was extremely subpar. They shoved that new CMDB instance down the businesses throat. Turns out it was nothing more than a hack job loaded with inaccuracies. The data lake? More like the abyss where accurate data disappears. What does it say when your vender has an overpriced, complex billing model and can’t even keep your data and processes accurate? No wonder they are getting outsourced.

I am the person who created this post 9 months ago. Looks like Flannery is going to outsource CoreTech after all. About time.

totally agree. core tech aka TSG aka a million different names has and always will be full of glut. until this company does away with the old boys club in management, nothing will change. you want to turn it around? clear house management at all levels especially HR who breeds the garbage "market yourself, do nothing" culture, go outside the company for fresh ideas, and rise up as Ford did.

GE buying another software company Solano. If you notice all companies we buy are in San Fran or Boston area. Say good bye to NOLA and Detroit.

Let me guess you are someone working on Predix or you're a PM providing a ton of value and delivering a ton to your business right now?People and their comments really amaze me. The CTO has to stay inside GE and drive strategy. Why in the hell would they want to outsource this. That might help them save money but it would be a step in the wrong direction. CTO needs to insource talent. This type of transformation GE is after doesn't happen overnight.

Myapps and F5 probably won't survive it if they do it today. Look at the office updates and biz apps access.

CoreTech is a commodity, no longer a value add. It can easily be replaced by companies that know how to do it better through automation and cheaper. Just look at the internal bill from CoreTech. It is a mess and services are overpriced.

You know the execs in DWS also just focus on NPS with useless metrics. This problem spreads across CoreTech. They try to in source, but the execs have no idea who is good or bad so just pick the cheapest, and the worst. Without replacing the wrongly skilled execs and deadweight, there is no hope.

Most of the problems I believe CoreTech has is outsourcing to the lowest cost contractors. They hire under-experienced people, so tickets languish and trying to get proper support is difficult at best. Too bad the execs who made the call of picking providers don't have to sit in a jabber/skype chat with 6 network techs to fix an issue that would take 5 minutes with a single tech who had some experience / knowledge. Or with server techs who don't even understand the basic technology they are supporting.

@atx for that matter HP(E) is dead as well. IBM and HPE are the only two companies that have more messages (on this site) than us
