I'd like to see if you think that our jobs are safe (are they) - I am referring to Irvine.

Yesterday there were very quiet layoffs at SanDisk in Marlboro, part of an effort to close the facility in Marlboro within the next 90 days.
Confirmed! Layoffs this coming March! PHO site due to manpower reduction
Won't talk for Irvine in particular, but from recently-ex'd colleagues theres an on going low level of layoffs on SSDs. Larger numbers marked for removal next 3-9 months because of consolidation after MOFCOM is lifted and SSDs forcing the HDD roadmap down to capacity enterprise models only. Opposite to what senior management are saying for sales and engineering, with the shrinking of the HDD roadmaps and the MOFCOM consolidation there are too few roles to accommodate everyone.
Toshiba was not successfully bid by WD, most probably huge cut...
