Anybody else noticed how they no longer use terms like layoffs, instead they just announce reorganizations and start letting people go. I guess it has a better ring to it, and it keeps employees from getting too worked up about it. I will not even go into who is getting shown the door, the sheer stupidity of it is mind boggling. Teradata will not last long like this...

The new and not even close to improved Teradata has been on life support for the last 3 to 4 years.
Time maybe to just pull the plug. It's the compassionate thing to do.

Get ready, rumor is there are more reorganizations (aka layoffs) coming. Teradata has a big footprint in California. In CA, if a company lays off more than 30 (more or less, not sure of the exact number) in a month, the company has to pre-report the layoff to the state and the layoff has to comply with the CA WARN rules. To avoid those rules, Teradata targets just enough CA based employees to stay under the limit. They've done this for years. We expect another layoff in Sept or Oct and after that who knows. Morale is low.
It's like the best Technology in the hands of idiots. What else can you expect but go down.

This is exactly like Lucent Technology. Good Technology but in the hands of wrong management and then you know what happens in the end. Lay off all the employees.. so guys who are still here start looking for jobs now..
I agree wholeheartedly with the assessment here. Our leaders are not leaders they are clowns, forget about being Tech Savvy they don't even have basic management skills or selling skills. Past 4 years have been wasted in "Thinking Big" and now we are here with no sales. Teradata is a bureaucratic mess.. all everyone is doing is push papers and push guys who do the real work. Look at the last reorg.. they have let go some of the good people and kept the dumb guys around. I would be surprised if this company survives another 12 months. Just like they sold the application division they will be forced to sell everything for discounted price.
Our leaders from the last century are not tech savvy or indeed embracing the new social selling ethos which is needed.

Thankfully our dinosaur leader in International is too embroiled in his ego to worry about driving change
