Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

Is Walmart buying Advance Auto Parts?

Is Walmart really buying Advance Auto as there is a ton of rumors about this? Not sure how things will pan out but it looks to me that the management is preparing for a sale - and, Walmart has been shopping quite a bit over last 24 months. I do not work for AAP nor WMT but wanted to see what some of you here think.

Its funny you all dog on Advance Auto and yet the company went from being a small retail store in the mid 1900's to the largest auto parts chain in the world.

i work for carquest have for 20 yrs..before advance bought carquest we was a good company to work for but since advance took over they do not care for their employees not one bit...not one bit.....i would welcome walmart to buy us (((ONLY IF THEY TREAT US BETTER))) but from what i hear from walmart employees i would really rather be bought out from TOTALLY someone else

I would not be surprised to see Walmart do this for I have work for Carquest and now Advance Auto Parts for over 25 years and since advances buck-a-- out customer quality customer relations have gone down so I believe Walmart Wood bring that customer relation back to the public

"As walmat has seen its better days..." You can't be serious. Walmart seems to be holding their own against their competition, for now anyways. Can't say the same for AAP. Everything happening right now within AAP is in desperation.

As walmat has seen its better days it needs to expand into the auto parts market with a well know name like advance auto parts. Makes sense to me as advance is far from the damaged company many here may think.

Why would Walmart or anyone buy AAP for that matter? Advance is losing, pure and simple. Instead of spend money to buy AAP just drive them out of business and take their share of customers. Pretty straight forward really.

Would be shocked. WMT actually has a few former AAP employees who work in their corporate office. But, these were the winners who saw the horrible decision to buy poorly run CQ and left as soon as possible.

Walmart can buy inventory anywhere and already have a distribution network. Why would they bother buying a loser like this?

While it could happen, I just highly doubt it. The damage to AAP has been done. Walmart isn't in the business of buying out a broken retailer and fixing them. I think it's comical how everything at AAP is so down played by management but everyone else can see it coming from a mile away. It's hard to say what exactly will happen. I look for my store to close any day now.

I seriously doubt even Wal-Mart would be that stupid.
