Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

October layoffs at Citrix

I have noticed several people mention here and on other boards that October is going to bring a round of layoffs at Citrix. Anybody knows if there is any truth to these claims? Most of what I have seen have been rumors, but there are just too many of them to comfortably disregard them as just rumors. Any info would be appreciated...

Citrix has said a reorganization is coming since the change of leadership in July. This is not NEW news. But it is real and it’s because they do have a brick and mortar business that is transforming to cloud and they need to shed the old to make room for the new. It hasn’t been the old Citrix in a long time. There’s still a bit of that spirit left but now it’s coupled with newer stuff. People here still want to do a good job. They still care when a release is crap. They still want to make sure customers get value. If you’re outside of the company or if you prefer to blame others for the failure of your career here then I can see why you’d be angry. Believe me I have seen people come and go and most of them (not all) but most deserved it. Citrix is very very very conservative about letting people go. If you get let go in a layoff it was probably wayyyyy past your bedtime. I come into this job every day because it’s still a challenge solving problems and making it all work and Citrix takes care of good hard workers and thinkers. If I get laid off this week I know it’s because I stopped being useful not because the leadership s---s. It’s all on me. I know this because I’ve been in the position where I had to let people go and I know how many of the choices are made and in some cases it’s heart breaking but in most... these people extended their welcome and were taking advantage of a very very generous company. #notacitrixexec #beenherelongenoughtosee5layoffs

Layoffs are coming again in October (next week). Confirmed by numerous inside the company at several levels of Sr Director and above. The date was originally the 4th of October but it may get pushed. Possibly 150 to 300 people at Fort Lauderdale HQ alone. Global Employee meeting to follow on the 10th with "details to come". Also, just announced internally last week, WW Sales and Americas Sales - top 2 leaders are both "retiring". Also, check out the latest pull of the last two Netscaler builds. Kirill would have never let quality lapse like that. It is time for us all to see things as how they are and not what they were and move on. The heart and soul, the Citrix family, the "Citrix Culture" we so loved is a thing of the past. We are now another corporate entity focused only on the bottom dollar and employees are just numbers. At least we can take comfort that in the end Elliot Group, the board and their share holders will learn that technology stems from innovation and vision which are creative qualities that stem from passion. "You're just an empty cage if you kill the bird". Farewell friends, it was an amazing journey before it wasn't. Thank you to Mark, Kirill and David for everything! Much respect to David for not giving up and passionately going down with the ship.

Not the same Citrix - absolutely no compassion in my department for anyone effected by Hurricane Irma. Maybe other departments gave their teams time to recover, move back home from evacuating, wait for power, etc. Not mine. Looking to move on from this place.

Who cares. Lay me off and give me my severance. I could use a nice break.

Depends on what parts of the company. If its executives then yes I agree they are coming. My Dept. is already understaffed and they know it. Cutting us would impact Customers to much.

This isn't a rumor, they are coming. The company went on a corporate wide hiring freeze for the months of June and July. I already spoke with recruiters who Citrix has used to hire for their Fort Lauderdale office for years and they have already been told Citrix is planning to layoff 5-10% of its Fort Lauderdale work force, which is around 150-300 people. This information was divulged to me Tuesday, August 16th, 2017.

@6ufe, I seriously doubt that. Why would they bother?

Have you seen how many companies are listed here? And we are not even in their top 10 most frequent boards list. And if they would make the top 100 list, I doubt this board would make it there too.

Rumors have been swirling about layoff end of August and October. Rumors of a buy out have made those "rumors" even more true. I agree with the previous post, that there are too many people saying these "rumors" for them to be completely untrue.

Is it because October would be the next earnings call and people are paranoid? I wouldn't put any stock in such rumours unless someone can give specifics.
