Even employees that have been with GE over 20 years (rare breed) are calling the place a joke. Most would have been gone long ago. The only reason they have not left GE is they feared loss of their pension. Rumor is the pension is now on the chopping block. Goodbye GE!!!!!!!

GE already has stopped offering a pension for new hires. They COULD freeze all pensions, meaning no more accumulation of benefits, but they cannot cut what's already been earned (former GM employee so I've seen this play before). I fully expect a freeze at some point...that's when you'll really start to see folks bailing out - no incentive to stay at that point...especially for the more experienced people.
I was proud to say I worked for GE when I did so. Things sure have changed there. I work for a competitor now and I'm already interviewing field engineers being bought out and kicked into Field core
They absolutely can be. Working on the front lines means seeing this stupidity on a daily basis now.
Where do they get the idiots that keep making these decisions? Can they really be this dumb?
GE handed out pink slip to all CSL, CFM and outage managers - Across the world. New company Field Core will hire back about 40% of them. However they will lose all seniority, in US heard they may lose health benefits - don't think they can do that in Canada. Field Core is in charge of everything in the field. And all of them need to be interchangeable. Not just know about the contracts, but to diagnose the problem with machines and Identify parts etc. Yet another screw job from GE.
Mar 13, 2017 (article by Market Realist) - The underfunded status of GE's principal pension plan was $25.6 billion on December 31, 2016. How could it not be cut?
