I just received word that I am part of a new RA. Starts today with a 90 day RA package. I'm going to dial into my dept meeting to hear how large it will be and will post and update later. I have been with IBM for over 17 yrs.

What groups are being affected?
US IBMer with 20 years - 54 yrs old - maintained 100% for the last decade - put on the RA list because the last boss was an idiot, and I basically did his job and mine, before he split 3 months ago -- new boss of 2 weeks RA'd me because I was the most expensive of her team and the oldest. This isn't about the US, UK, India, Watson - it's about taking the machete to all IBM heads and starting with the oldest, and most productive. File the Suit!

19 years and now down to 90 days and 4 weeks severance thanks a lot IBM and they wonder why they cannot attract talent.

As follow up, I learned that the RA goes across all of North America and parts of Europe, depending on which group your in. Learned it also affect my departments management team. No surprised really. They have been preparing us over the last several years for this and having us cross train contractors in other countries who are taking over our regular jobs. My understanding is everyone is at risk unless your a Band B or above. This is only the first phase. Welcome to the new world.
