Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

I thought a disgrace occured when HPE fired me on January 2015...

... but it turned out to be the best thing that has happened in my whole professional life. The same peers that though there was no way for me to recover from this are the same ones that call me now regularly to see if I could hire them on my team. Life is so full of surprises and ironies...

Greener pastures abound outside of HPE. Be willing to relocate and focus your search on tech roles in small/med companies out of the IT industry, and you'll see how a new world full of opportunities opens in front of your eyes. Thank you, HPE. You did me a big favor...

Awesome, ixr!!! You go, girl or guy! ... You did it for all those years 'cause you're a good guy or a good guyette! "What comes around, goes around"... Enjoy your bennies for having persevered! More than guilt-free!

PS,I am skeptical of the "don't be a quitter" sentiment". Some actor... Erol Flynn? Or some such... Said, maybe paraphrased here, "If you fail, try, try again. After that, quit! Don't be a damned fool about it"!

For so many years I did everything possible not to get laid off; worked 70 hour weeks, took on anything and everything I was asked to, was careful to maintain good relationships with everyone, especially my managers. I was always ranked Signifcantly Exceeds. And then I just gave in and gave up. I just didn't want to wake up everyday, trying so hard to do everything possible not to get laid off. I said yes to being laid off and it was the best decision I ever made. I immediately found another job that pays 35% more, normal workload, just a completely normal place to work, with such nice people. I'm still pinching myself at my good fortune to have escaped the current madness and truly wondering why I tried so hard to hang on and why I cared so much. I'm much better off than I ever was at HPE and regret all those years that I wanted so badly to stay.

Life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you react to it Take that 90 percent and move on. I did and it has been great. Also no one can make you feel inferior without your consent. The folks still at DXC or HPE are not living there dreams because most if not all of them are in denial or living there fears out each day. I am up there in age now so those age 50 and below and you can still say that twenty years from now you won't be disappointed by the things you did do then by the things you didn't do. Do not give up your power by thinking you don't have any. Good Luck.

Thanks for the encouraging post. I will go this time round, not going to try to find another internal role, I've had enough. Got to treat this as a positive and move forward.

Hopefully try my hand at contract work.
