Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Greeting from the Bronx

Just got word today that we're having a meeting tomorrow about ATS offer, and throughout the week one on ones with field techs. After which we have two weeks to decide. Was wondering if it makes a difference at all For those who stay with Altice and those who leave to ATS? if both solicited Union at the same time?

Should we stay with Altice? Would that be easier to get Union than transfer to ATS with said Union or does that void current Union when transferring to ATS and we have to petition a new Union? If so than is it best to go over there now and get Union once in?

Thx for any advice. Hoping to get IBEW next year if we're still here.

What about those of us not taking the cut. How do they benefit from that? Iam opting to keep base pay with 2% bonus.

Altice management must really think that we're all a bunch of ignorant fools.

why would techs jump onto this garbage as opposed to being represented by a union and have the power to sit down and negotiate the terms of ATS.

Correction you get a one time founders bonus at 8% of your reduced salary 10% let's do some quick math 40.00hr tech -10% =4.00

40 down to 36.00 a hr

Lose 8,320 per year

24,960 3 years

Founders bonus one time paid in two installments bonus 5990

How long will it take to get at the 40 range with 3% max at 36 year 1.08 year 37.08 year 2 38.19 year 3 39.33 ahh I'm done get the picture all that fancy math means you are losing out

@beeone Sigh...it's been slowly happening since November. But really ramped up after our failed union attempt. There's literally like two supervisors in the morning, two at night. Each with like 30 techs.

Haven't been rolled up on in like two months. I've only seen like two managers around the garage like maybe once or twice a week.

Now Iam hearing they getting rid of the fleet crew. And going to send any van repairs away somewhere.

It's been terrible honestly. We're going back to five or six jobs a day. They said productivity is the new flavor now over repeats. i dunno know man....just trying to hold on. Every week some new nonsense.

Ultimately the decision is yours look at the pros and cons the pros for Ats

2% sign on bonus

Lose 10% of your salary to may get 10-20% year end bonus (doesn't sound like a Pro)

Pro for Altice USA

Customer facing employee cannot get rid of you

Not guaranteed by Ats not in writing by word of mouth

Existing Benefits you know what you got they are saying it will be the same

Tenure in your job as a day one employee in Ats you will have no rights if you go to the Nlrb if they terminated you unfairly.

Cable benefits at Ats you get a stipend they just made you a customer.

Raises as cheap as they are you get them here at Ats bonus structure not in writing and not available during sign up

They have to abide by the franchise agreement,

If you leave to Ats all those rights are gone they just made you a contractor.

Look at what Ats has done how many people have

Left, do you actually think that you, voluntarily leaving your job. Key word (voluntarily) to go to Ats and do a so called all out Fiber Rebuild, Let's say after they decide 1 month after the IPO and they get their Billion or so Dollars they say forget it we're going docsis 3.1 upgrading the Ubrs keeping the majority of the coax and stopping the rebuild.

In turn eliminating the majority of the well paid employees that voluntarily left for greener pastures at Ats going full contractor at the rate that they want to pay which is maxed out at 36 for a fiber tech, One little note if you are not aware they are over 200 contractors working in the Bx alone with no rebuild going on. Why is that? Hmmm

The decision is yours I made mine already and I am in the minority which I can't even fathom but so be it.

Yeah from what I gather from some of the post, guys are taking the offer. I thought a lot of guys would refuse but it doesn't look like it. I know no one trust Altice but I guess there's no good choices. Take it or leave it. Garage so empty now. Really feels like we're on our last days. Never saw so many techs, supervisors, managers leave in such a short amount of time.

Nothing to do now but go over there and hope it's not a trap. If it is good luck to everyone who's left.
