Thread regarding J.C. Penney Co. Inc. layoffs

List of JC Penney Stores Closing in 2017

Does someone have this list of stores that JC Penney is planning to close in 2017. I heard the announcement today that they will be closing stores - this the list of things that I heard:

  • Close 140 stores

  • That represents 14% of the total number of stores (1000 total)

  • List of stores to be closed will be published in March 2017

  • JCP continues to lose revenue

  • Lay off or provide early retirement for 6000 people

  • More closures will come

  • More specialized stores to be developed

  • More focus on appliance, openly challenge Sears (they are about to fold too)

That's all what I have for now, I really need to find that list, so please share if you have any details

List will be released tomorrow. I work at one of the closing jcp stores. We were notified tuesday. God bless everyone losing their jobs, its dificult.

The sad thing is I suspect that the Rocky Mount, NC store will be amongst the earlier rounds of store closures as they like 'Sears Holdings' and 'Bed, Bath, & Beyond' will be closing stores either due to "performance" or "lease ending" reasons (The Rocky Mount, NC store lost Bed Bath & Beyond because they left due to the lease expiring and not deciding to renew it)!!

I am sure that list will be published soon - they know the number but they want to be careful. they know they have to cut 10% or 15% and they will have to develop plans how to unwind the business.
