Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Anyone else feeling less stressed after leaving Intel?

I thought it was the end of everything, yet, today I find myself much more relaxed and happier. I left in 2015.

Glad to see your post, Cleara. I know who you are and wondered about you the other day, actually. I remember seeing you post on IB before leaving what you were going to do once you left Intel. I wondered if you made it safely. Looks like you have. You must have legs of iron (or rubber! LOL) after that long bike ride.

I can't leave because I didn't get an invite and my work load is so heavy I can't look for a job outside of Intel. My Second line manager wants to know if I'm really adding value so now I need to stop my real work and go show him what I've produced so I can substantiate my existence.

Roller coaster: Some good days, some uncertainty anxiety, but the mean is healthier than the past abusive work environment with continuous pressure and unnecessarily high stress levels.

I left 3 years ago, life is AH-MAZING!!!! My resting heart rate is extremely low because I'm no longer under constant stress. I took the skills I learned at Intel and reinvented myself, my life is better than anything I had ever imagined. I'm on my way to my 2nd phase of life and loving every second of it!! Whenever I drive by campus I breathe a sigh of relief that I no longer work there...I admit that took a few months to happen but it did and I have no regrets - my heart aches for everyone who seems torn about taking VSP. Just rip the band-aid off and do it!

Clearly, there are two tiers in INTEL: one Master, second Slave categories. Master - Blaster division.

Very much depends to which category you do belong... GR 5, 6, 7 and most 8s are belonging to Slave category. GR 9, PEs, FLMs, SLMs, TLMs and executives are Masters. And, they are very bad, evil masters, most of them.

You exactly know to which category you do belong, don't you? I doubt you all are naive, and do not know to which group you do belong. ;-)

So, act accordingly. By your (honest - Slave, rotten/corrupt - Master) interests. Not exactly black and white... But still! You have to chose some other/MORE than 2 options stated here... You have to figure out other positions/options you can be in/with.

If you have job with Intel hang on it. Work/life balance is much better at Intel. While @ Intel my stress level was 2 on scale of 1-10. I left Intel in early 2013 and joined Apple. Now stress level is 8. Go figure. If you are doing good at Intel stay put .

I left Intel Jones Farm at 2 PM on Friday, April 29. I got on my bicycle and rode 320 miles from JF2 to my new home in Bellingham, Washington.

When I arrived in Bellingham, Washington, I called my colleagues at Intel while sitting under a tree in Boulevard Park (for those of you not familiar with Bellingham, that is the park that is on the South Bay Trail and overlooks Bellingham Bay. I told my colleagues that I have safely arrived in Bellingham after 5 days and 320 miles after leaving JF2 lobby.

They were quite envious.

Now, living in Bellingham with some saving and planning a possible post-retirement part time job of creating sculptures and doing vacuum tube amplifier repair, I am quit happy here!

I hope all of us who are affected this year can say the same thing next year. Folks, I have been stressed about uncertainty of the future in the last three week, as a human reaction. Finding the next job, paying bills, ending up moving, etc., but I am very confident we will all be in a better situation after this is all over. I have no doubt this will end up working to most people's advantage, specially when we see Intel (did somebody call it Inhell?) in 2 or 3 years, and maybe another DEC or Sun in a few years.
