Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel's 2015 Layoff Selection Criteria

By word-of-mouth from an HR insider. Apologies if I mess up the terminology.

If you are a US-employee and both of these apply to you:

  1. IR or SSL4/5 in 2015 focal.

  2. IR or BE or SSL4/5 in 2012/2013/2014 focal.

Then your last day will be July 15 and you are never eligible for rehire.

Terminology Decoder:

IR = improvement required

BE = below expectations (no longer used)

SSL = stock share level (there are 5 levels: 1 is best, 5 is worst)

focal = Intel's performance review process

Hi, its me the troll who posts 1/2 of the anonymous comments on this site. Today I decided to go back on my meds. So at least for today I'll try not to kick people while they're down. No promises about tomorrow. :)

Thatz wierd, I was told first year having worked for only a few months (I joined in May but got to join the project only in sept 2012) this is what you get (SSL4). Is this not taken into account?

What if I have ssl4 in 2013 (first, year at Intel) and ssl3 in 2014 and 2015? Could that still be a problem?

Now that work environment sounds similar to Motorola prior to the spin off. Such a sense of entitlement!

100% true

Actually not true! They are not allowing employees affected by this to EVER be rehired. Doesn't matter if you come in to a different group, different job roll etc. HR confirmed this "special clause" for this action. So yeah, it states "recall" but their true meaning is "never again" will you be employed by Intel. I'm not even sure if that is legal.

At least we know for sure there are typical Intel employee's posting here, the lack of comprehension of the difference between the words "Recall" and "Rehire" guarantee's it.

Hmmm, they didn't bother to add the part about never eligible for rehire last year. However, the year seems to have proved that it should have been said. The "legal" way to age discriminate is called "retirement" at Intel. Some of the $$ put in place when one is "bought out" (retired due to "performance reasons), seem to make it legit, but underneath, it is still really "shedding" the senior-most employees because they're the most expensive in both wage and healthcare.

Yep. Successful + SSL4/5 = old BE (Below Expectation) Focal Rating

What does "successful" in performance review and stock level 4 means in Intel? - "Successful but not successful" ????

Intel now publishes market pay ranges for every pay grade. Those on the high end of the pay range gets screwed since managers use it as justification for not giving you much of a raise regardless of your performance during the past year.

During at least some of these years, stock options were not performance related but always explained as way to tie you to company long term. For older employees who might not see the stock options come due, it did not make sense to give them large grants, but instead give higher raises. This seems to be re-writing history to eliminate older employees in addition to poorer performers.

Without putting too fine a point on the letter they are saying please get out you are not wanted here. Simple.

Post ID: @1t6E+BXZM8lk

The letter reads, "Not eligible for recall", not rehire. ie: Its not like a union where they lay people off with the possibility they can be recalled, without going through the hiring process again.

"never eligible for rehire"... is that as definitive as it sounds... can't be hired by a different business unit... can't be hired in the future?
