Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

We were shopping King Soopers, a Kroger Co in Colorado. They're eliminating middle management to cover the costs of C-level comp increases. Without management posts to look forward to, less motivated employees can now provide even worse customer service. Good job, Rodney!

How convenient that In September, CEO Rodney McMullen told analysts Kroger would add $400 million in incremental operating profit as part of a restructuring plan called “Restock Kroger.” They fire people so they can have their numbers go up and get more income for themselves.
yes, Rodney gets paid 483 times more than the average worker does and also in 1 year he
makes as much as the average worker makes in 40 years. They fire the middle management because the other employees below them are union. They can not do anything but treat them poorly and hope the ones with more time in quit because they're only getting 25 cent raises a year and when they get older, if they reduce their hours they get a large pay cut around $5 an hour or more. Pay increases aren't too bad for the first few years so they s— you in. They cut hours and make everyone work harder. Phase out meat cutters with precut meat from the factories but keep hamburger in the service counter to make it look like you still do it there fresh. Phase out cashiers and baggers. Raise prices slowly and put "low price" on things to hope you don't notice by putting it on sale when changing the regular price so you can afford your nice shiny cashier replacements called uscans or Scan Bag Steal.

This doesn't really surprise me all that much. I was a Co-mgr for 7 years and was run off by a store mgr who's racist and he still runs a store, caters to his race, etc. Nobody seems to call him on this. I had to walk away. DM and other supervisors did nothing. Kroger MA has steadily declined in the past 5 years. Stores get dirtier and emptier. Service is suffering. Morale continues to get worse. Now this, yikes. Kroger ruined my sons reputation. After almost 30 years they terminated him and others in our district of running a greeting card scam. They fired them all without any evidence. The union sent a rep with him but no one stood up for him. The unemployment office sided with my son saying Kroger did not prove their accusations. Kroger Corp. reps are POS’s and shameless. Son has two autistic children at home & wife works.

Rodney is a bean counter! All THEY see is the bottom line. Cut, cut, cut. Then surround yourself with sharp(!!!) people who do the rest. The bottom is going to fall out of the company in the not to distant future. Those who wanted to get rich will walk away laughing...with their millions.

Right, regular workers received just .25 cent a year raise. I understand they do not care how disheartening it is to us to see the incredible amount of money they receive and yet some of us are struggling. I can't even get my pipes fixed under my house because living check to check just paying bills and buying food. Have to keep water off, and just turn on at night for us to quickly shower and do dishes...I wish I wasn't feeling so bitter right now...
