Stock Price and Layoffs

My prediction is they will lay-off more people in attempt to pump up the stock price. It’s back under 23 while the S&P makes new highs and the consumption of natural gas is at record highs. How long will this poor leadership continue, what a shame that the layoffs in 2016 happened, it is really showing in the poor performance and lack of “talent”, the talented ones where fired and terminated and it will happen again, that’s my prediction.

The results that I'm seeing don't reflect a pool of top performers waiting for the opportunity to show Williams their best. I see a bunch of beaten down survivors who are quickly losing any interest they ever had in making a career at Williams. The top performers are leaving in droves. Those left don't give a flip about a poorly managed company with nothing to offer but continuous uncertainty. I've been with other major midstream players, the chaos and lack of direction at Williams are exceptional.

Ok,if you are being dragged down by the team, it doesn’t matter what type of performer you are,. You have to adapt, wait to you get a new boss or move on. Those are the choices, there is only so much time to make hay, don’t accept a mediocre situation which could hurt your career and future that could up end up in a termination, unless you have no choice. In this day and age don’t expect to get much help from people in your company, you are on your own. Most large companies are very similar in the way they operate, a smaller company, different people or different buisness, smaller company, own buisness or government are all alternatives.

Also, lots of hidden agendas where carried out during the cuts, I say most, if not all that where terminated got caught in the crossfire. I will give you that if your where a great employee, your chances of survival where better but definitely not guaranteed, I saw some of the exceptional and most productive employees hammered big time in the cuts. It’s unfortunate but weak management is threatened by top performers And does everything to undercut them and uses these layoffs as an excuse to purge them from the organization, especially employees of top character and integrity that rock the boat and are a threat.

By the way the cuts where also quota based; you may not want to hear hear this but old white males where hit the hardest. Just my opinion based on the list of retainers and cut heads handed out.

I don’t disagree that there where some poor performers and bad actors let go. I also saw Several poor performers retained as well. The cuts where non uniform some departments retained all their employees while other departments where heavily hit. To me it’s more like the game of survivor. I think it more to do with costs and supply and demand and leas with performance, just my opinion. I was given inside info on the methodology of the cuts by someone who made them and then was got cut after they made the cuts.

I'll agree with you that the layoffs of 2016 were also due to poor management as you said, but I saw more than a handful of low performers that (maybe that were never held accountable for it by sh–ty "leaders") but also were grown-a– adults and shouldn't have to be handheld on every task.

This is not what I saw at all. The layoffs in 2016? where a result of excessive hiring and empire building for the most part. I don’t believe for a second that any of these people where losers and that type of statement seems to feed into justifying poor management and the inability to get the maximum production out of its employees.

All good points. However I don’t agree with any of them. I could see it if the company was in a shrinking market, but this is a growing market, I just think its a very average company. Nobody is asking Williams to be a charity but there are laws to prevent discrimination against disabled and old age people. There are reasons for this, because the majority of the American population believes that are limits to what a corporation can do.

I dislike Williams as much as anyone else, but to say that they let the good ones go in 2016 layoffs is ridiculous in my point of view. Some of the slowpokes and losers got the axe then. Sure, some good ones might have been caught up in it, but by and large I'm glad those that got RIF'd then got RIF'd.

And I don't why some people think that Williams exists to provide them employment when they are effective workers (sick, incapable, lazy, etc.) Is it a welfare company?

The problem with this company is they are not loyal to their employees and do not know how to build something up. Employees are not disposal commodities, you need to build from within and layoffs are very destructive and tear down organizations.
