Thread regarding Resideo Technologies layoffs

It's going to be ok everyone....we are going to "gamify" our apps.

I thought we already did...thought it was a gambling app. Its a gamble that it actually works or is actually up when you go to use it. Also, The geo fencing has been fixed +/- the western hemisphere.

Plus, the new CFO is from a liqueur company so he should know everything there is about this space. Also, maybe he can get booze really cheap for the break rooms to keep everyone calm while this beyotch implodes.

Management are only interested in themselves and their bonus , they don't care what quality is as long as they achieve there figures. Old technology marketed as new? It's like ground hog day same issues year in year out. No incentive for people . Moral at rock bottom . Time to cut the middle management and end the gravy train . Pay is peanuts so you will only get monkeys with no entrepreneur skills to move the company forward into the 21st century.

deqb - we were NEVER able to get geofincing working....like for the last 5 years never. we should just give up and removing it. We cant even get the products to work right much less geofencing....then there's the outages..

yup...that up time/availability is an outright lie...its probably a server (NT 3.51) plugged into a UPS not even on a network that they count their uptime / availability from.

Geofencing seems to be working only some of the times like some sort of cache is getting flushed and customers are left in the dark or blamed for being crazy about it. Are the guys from Brno now at that new company tieto working on it? There is no way the advertised uptime is real???

Great... not only we have incompetent management (the ones obsessed with going to the top of slack-er usage as a proof of worth) -reporting to the shirtless guy but now we have in Melville private “mentoring” meetings between females H1B and males 2-3 levels above them.... I guess the McDonald story in the news wasn’t enough we need to be in the news in the most negative way to bring the stock further down... are people really that dumb and so out of touch with reality???

You’re right they can’t be trusted. Some of their reports are the people that have ran to their friend from certain geolocations and ensured engineers were either removed or quit. Until the shirtless guy actually cleans up his own management ( those reports of his that talk and cozy up) And are skilled at slack-erization, no one will trust him and products will continue to go down the toilet. And Yeah at least 2 top slacker are under his management and are known to be devoid of skills except from their mouth... and I will leave it at that.

The current CEO agreed to all those deals and could have minimized some of those like signing up to use the job name...
That said... even with those that could have worked, if the engineering remained intact. Instead we had that 3rd world for everything and looks where we are. Can’t even deliver anything... then we keep going that way because it’s cheaper... -people... they are actually now having such a negative impact that a person costing $20 delivers negative value probably in the -$500 due to the damage they do. And to compound the matter we imported a few of them to Melville and other location. If you really look at what they were doing previously ( not their made up resume) it is insane they even got a job!!!! But they are “nice” I have been told and the lady are very “good” at stroking you in the right way hence lots of 1-1 meeting up to 2 -3 levels above especially in that PMO. You know what that means besides being illegal. But nothing surprises me here.

I don’t believe Honeywell spun Resideo for success. It was a deal designed to FAIL. The company was spun solely to have Resideo bear Honeywell’s environmental fines knowing full well they’d be chapter 11 shortly after.

9kuh - Nope they have not backed off. As a matter of fact, they picked up the pace in anticipation of the stock crashing a second time on the 7th when they announce bad numbers. I have heard the guy "leading" the software group does see the third world engineers are a main reason we are in the shape we are in and was trying to phase them out and on shore more but due to cost and push back from the third world that was stopped. On the plus side this same dude is looking to point out how other groups can cut and point out how they should cut less on the engineering side. Im sure hes making friends in IT, finance and the business' gathering data and having meetings with HR and "leadership" without them on how their groups can be reduced. No one should be trusting this team...whether is the chunky boat guy, the german dude or anyone from an M&A

Anyone knows if they backed off lay-off real Americans engineers? (Not talking about the s— up management in Austin, Rolle and Melville which deserve to find another company to sink ) Would be too much to ask to jettison all those new (and excelling at incompetence and nastiness ) directors and Sr directors and VPs?
How about a new metric for management: the more one is at the top of slack-et usage the less they were actually doing any real work (and probably impeding the work?)

@ 8gbo, a few years back, I visited the memorial center of Nikola Tesla in a small Croatian village where he was born. I remember seeing a small cottage and a stable, but have no recollection of any bathroom facilities nearby.

The issue, my friend, is not whether H1B employees had a bathroom or not, the issue is that we are not getting any Nikola Teslas.

This is crazy they are trying to cut and we want to continue promos to Sr directors or VPs for those acquisitions when none have truly delivered anything but backstabbing??? Yeah and slack-ing and turbo s—ing up doesn’t count as delivery BTW...
Some of those directors in Austin and GV should be kicked back to supervisor or entry level doorman or canned. As for buoy all management should be kicked out as the reality is that the design is c-ap and the former owners just bamboozled the id–ts that vouched for its engineering soundness and allowed a purchase that made rich some small team of incompetents people...either they got kickbacks or they were incompetents crusty directors meaning they have no reason to be in Melville , Rolle GV or Austin -Out with the trash.

It is baffling that we place so much blind faith in that particular 3rd world source. Their homeland and businesses are paralyzed by incompetence and corruption and they cannot even stop widespread non-use of bathroom facilities. Yet we naively believe they can provide us with high quality software and efficient management? Time to wise up and realize we aren't saving money or gaining anything, just providing them a job bank at the expense of the company and its shareholders.

Have become so desperate of the software incompetence that the former guys that were in Brno that were lay-off last year as a 3rd world country was taking over software and data are now working as consultant to tell them how to program and increase the uptime. This is not recent and that’s why some increase in uptime has occurred. But it’s ok because the H1B are now in Melville managing the engineers (show incompetence so they got promoted to PM or management)

I agree with almost everything people here are concerned and frustrated about, but I suggest you all focus your efforts on finding a better place to work in. All these great suggestions wont help. this company will disappear guaranteed !

  • 7dsn - I agree to a certain extent. They are resetting the clock. that is part of the problem. Buoy will be released in July...no August...no sept....second week of October....now Jan some time. Titan will be released a year ago no...no...no.. Storm will be released...no no no.... Lumina will be released....

POM Has Issues no doubt but so does EVERY other area. Our Marketing is some of the worst anywhere in any sector. Our sales teams s—, We are relying on installers in a DIY world, We can't write software worth anything, We can't design a platform that scales or is stable, We continue to outsource to the cheapest third world resources and not the best, we put incompetent leaders in place with a weeks worth of insight (or less) and let them make critical decisions, None of our products in the market or planned have any level of innovation what so ever. We negotiated the worst contract ever and have to fork over tons of money to Honeywell for the privilege of using their name, money that could be used to hire real talent or buy meaningful companies. Speaking of which, we know we can't build so we buy and cant do that right. Everyone the clowns in leadership have done are money pits and disasters. Then there's Slack. We are about to base peoples worth and if they stay or go on how much they post in a tool that is really a joke and is un-necessary and a HUGE expense we didnt need to make. We confuse collaboration with using slack. If the idi0ts at the top knew how much people really hate it and how it becomes unusable the more people are on it maybe they would'nt do stupid things like this.

If the products are relaunched like the water one and failing why isn’t PMO resetting the clock or pushing back on c-appy products that can’t possibly be technically sound???
Seems like a problem of leadership in that PMO that can’t manage while the stock is tanking and free falling?

Yeah, the new gaming crew and the geniuses from the M&As are actually making things worse. We all figured things would be worse from every perspective once we left greater Honeywell but the speed of the demise is breath taking and entertaining. We haven't innovated in years and it is even worse now. This think we are looking at a second stock crash after they announce again on the 6th. Someone on the "leadership" team thought it would be better and cause less damage by announcing some bad news early and then the rest later....that's only going to make things worse and cause at lease two dramatic crashes. Investors, whether individual or institutional, need to stay as far away from this stock as possible...its a disaster waiting to happen (oh wait...it already has)

This is getting mo–nic (even more than usual) but we are so far down idiocy that.... it make sense in a perverted way :now the Austin software gamer group is using slack-er usage as a way to pinpoint people that stay or should go as not contributing... now why some people suddenly started using slack-er for everything make sense... especially by agile architects and others management .... ahoy buoy ! More senior directors or VPs needed !

Wtf they are cuts planning going on...
Worst is no acquisition will have to bear this... management and employees of RSI and the buoyant startup and so on will NOT be affected. Seems Melville will bear the brunt of it, Austin spared.... brace yourself.

Out of the 3 or 4 downgrades last week (and would think more this week) my understanding was Moody's just complete it's periodic review before last weeks implosion and will reassess based on the crash. S&P has not started their periodic review but would think both would downgrade after they complete.

Did Moodys/S&P put Rezi or Garett under review for a bond rating downgrade yet? I could not find anything, yet...

"This company will keep going down before it gets any better if at all. Keep on buying stupied companies like RSI, Bouy and others useless old technologies and you will go out of business even sooner. "
The worst thing is: those people from those failed acquisitions were actually promoted to roles where they absolutely are not competent. instead you see them moving from project to projects (To avoid getting caught at not delivering) and raising artificially the Slack-ification numbers. They need to clean house of those worthless people that prevent any recovery due to their lack of knowledge. Sales talkers should never be in an engineering role.

If you really want to save this company you need to build talent and right now we have almost none spcially in software. It will also take years to build the kind of talent we need to be able to compete with other companies out there and by that time this company could be out of business. Dont expect any miracle or magic solution here from top leadership. These kind of changes take a lot of time and money. Take a look at how much nest and amazon pay their engineers vs Resideo, the gap is huge, not to mention the benefits.

I don't agree with some of these posts. As someone up close and personal to these projects. We arent going to release anything early next year. Certainly not anything stable, scalable, innovative or anything anyone would want. That goes for platforms, software AND devices / hardware. All current release targets are BS and we are no where near being where we need to be on ANY of them. We can blame Honeywell all we want but the bad practices, lack of talent and lack of good leadership are what caused them to get rid of us and this continues to make us fail all around.

I would expect the stock to continue taking a dump. Enjoy that game-ification and slacking.

Lawsuits, stock going down 70% in a year or so... that's not a new CFO that is needed.... its a focus on real new products, removing that layer of directors that are obsessively slack-ing and add no value.
I bet those guys have created a hostile environment, so more lawsuits coming within 6 months
Are they using a magic 8 balls to make business decisions???? maybe they should , as at least they would get 50% right using it!

Agree doesnt matter where CFO comes from. What does matter is the people running marketing, projectsm, sales, software, hardware, general engineering & HR don't know what they are doing and can't attract or keep any talent.

We just need a CFO to know numbers. Shouldit matter where he comes from? More concerning is how much he costs.
