Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Optum layoffs August 2019

117 US employees terminated in what is being called Phase 1 of 3.

Any more info on the following two phases? Will they also include layoffs and if yes, how many are we expecting to be affected and where?

Basically, any additional info would be appreciated.

Optum care social workers, nurse managers, pharmacy managers, pharmacy directors and staff pharmacists are laid off , announcement made Nov 6. Last day for some 11/20 and 12/31. Some moved to Optum Rx Jan 1st. 2020.
Does anyone know if more lay offs for Optum Rx in 2020? February? Please share. This company is a disgrace.

Totally b—s—. I am sorry for all those impacted by UHC's greed. I hope you all find better jobs shortly. Why doesn't the CEO et al cut their wages? Oh wait...

Offshore is safe because that is where our jobs are going. It’s where all the mistakes are coming from too but oh well, right? Gotta save those dollars though so the CEO can make more than the $4+ million dollars he brought home last year. Poor guy, struggle must be real.

Anyone know how they chose the people they laid off today? For C&S was it based on numbers, wage or if they were ever capped etc? They did not say how they chose who to lay off.

There were at least 15 people including myself within C&S West Region cut today. Specifically in Arizona and New Mexico. 6 years of my life spent with UHC gone at the drop of a dime.

What LOB's are supposed to be affected by October and November layoffs????

Optum and UnitedHealthcare employees beware: a huge layoff is coming very, very soon. End of October. The entire enterprise is under a HUGE cost cutting exercise for US EMPLOYEES ONLY!! Their model does not include India nor Philippines, so those places are safe. This upcoming layoff could be one of the largest the company has ever seen. Get your resumes up to date and current. Be looking.

I hate optum. They took over my department two years ago and they have been a nightmare to work for. They outsourced our overtime which is against union policy and they put a bunch of Indians to pick up our extra charts not to mention that they outsourced more of our overtime to another outsourcing company as well who is located here in the USA but still not good. Optum is a TERRIBLE company and all they want to do is make a quick dollar. Also, they recently changed the vacation policies at my job as well to make less people go on vacation at one time. They want to outsource but dont want to factor in the people they outsourced to in order for us to be able to take our vacation time. Terrible company to work for. I'm sorry that my hospital ever partnered with them.

Not paying for internet is one of many methods Optum uses to "upset" their telecommuting employees in hopes they will leave the company on their own so they won't have to pay severance and can refill the position with two Philippine employees. They're not doing this to save money, they're doing it to thin out their US workforce so they can afford more subpar employees overseas.

US Clinical Services techs, make sure your resumes are up to date.

Latest cost cutting move - Optum will stop paying for Internet, furniture etc. for all telecommuters. Hopefully this save a few jobs.

Offshoring more jobs to the Philippines.
There is no transparency with the upper it managment. Just cut cut cut US based IT so upper managment in India can put staff over seas so they don't have to fly to the US Anymore.
