So is OxyChem also in the LayOff crosshairs? So far all we hear is Oxy Petroleum and Anadarko.
Some granularity may be in order. OXY seems to a somewhat bloated organization. Organization should have been reduced 50 percent long time ago prior to Anadarko purchase.
OXY:
Production: 0.7 MMBOEPD (2018 Annual Report)
Employees: 11,000 (including 3,000 OXYChem)
Anadarko:
Production: 0.7 MMBOEPD (2018 Annual Report)
Employees: 4,700 (seems OXY organization is bloated)
For comparison:
ConocoPhillips:
Production: 1.3 MMBOED (2018 Annual Report)
Employees: 10,900 (seems OXY organization is bloated)
FYI,
The OXY-Anadarko combined work force is approximately: 15,000 employees
The OXY-Anadarko combined net production is approximately: 1.4 MMBOEPD
For comparison:
ConocoPhillips net production is approximately: 1.3 MMBOEPD
ConocoPhillips workforce is approximately: 10,900 employees
Get the picture? Looking at 1/3 reduction in the OXY-Anadarko combined workforce
I’m starting to think it’s time to unionize Oxy’s and Anadarko’s thousands of employees and get some accountability out of the people at the top making all of these decisions without a bit of input from the people who do the actual work that makes them money. They can’t fire everyone.
Sooner than you think.
