Maybe they will take volunteers this time. Guess I need to wait until February to announce leaving to go live on my boat, fish and swim all day.

Q is preparing more layoffs for the acquisition phase by Intel or south east asian companies: classic case of merger acquisition when business is deteriorating.
Who cares, it's just a job. You're on the list, get another one. You're worried, start looking now. All you fools act as if this is the only show in town. If you suck at what you do, maybe it is. Blame yourself then.
I was advised to ensure I do as much, if not more, than my peers with other bosses, and to write it up. Seems like a hint to protect me from next wave of layoffs. Good boss for looking out, but not a great feeling to think it's a looming inevitability.

also headcount is dropping weekly due to attrition (ie the good people running for the exit)

Some managers played a game by not telling folks who are suppose to go in March by forcing them to work hard and meet project deadlines.
