Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Happy Thanksgiving to us

When you combine the fact that I won't be seeing my extended family due to the coronavirus with not knowing whether I'll even have a job past next week, I'm pretty sure this will be the worst Thanksgiving of my life. Tell me, what exactly is there to be thankful for? I guess we can always thank Exxon for making an already bad situation much worse with its layoffs timing...

@4jtc — You’re right, we should be more inclusive of Cavemyn and Cavefolx.

@4dha+185xuiqF As a caveperson I find your post offensive. We aren't all men you know. Why do people always have to bring us cavepeople down. And to answer your question. Hands. We use our hands to wipe.

@1eds+185xuiqF I agree with you. I mean just think about our caveman ancestors and what they had to contend with before fire was discovered. Have you seen the teeth on some of the animals that were around then? And what did they wipe with anyway? Must have been some nasty rashes going around.

Christ, I am willing to bet OP still has indoor plumbing, a roof over their head, plenty of food, and doesn’t live in a warzone. I know a couple billion people willing to trade places with you if you don’t think you can cope with your current situation. We should be thankful everyday and not just one where we celebrate gluttony.

@wjy Hang in there, it's not only you, many of us are on the same boat. Everyday, I pray for all of us, that we may find comfort and strength in this difficult time in our lives. I believe that there's something good that will come out of this. Never give up and don't you ever lose hope.

There is always something to be thankful for. Give it time. You can rise above this setback even though it may not seem like it right now.

I used to volunteer to the UW Food Bank when I worked for ExxonMobil. Now that I am jobless, I line up to get my food at the Food Bank. I am thankful of this.

Right now, I am just thankful to be alive and breathing. My story is like Job in the OT. Before I was PIPd in July, I was on top of the world, traveling, great house, and all the fanciness. Now I lost almost everything and not a job at the moment. I was s–c-dal and just could not get back to normalcy. I really did not see this coming, I did not know that I am so weak with poor foundation. Despite all these, I've increased my faith and hope.

Be thankful you have your family

Be thankful you have your health

Be thankful you’ve been paid well and saved for a rainy day

Exxon is not doing this to spite us, the whole world is going though this and many companies are laying off.

Even if I do get laid off, I will not take it personally and will not blame the company. They’ve got to do what they’ve got to do to survive.

We need to do the same. And stop moping.

I am happy for the stock market which is near new highs along with my 401k. I am also happy for my recent retirement where every day is now a weekend. Also, happy for the 30 years I spent in the oilfield with the last 15 years at EM resulting in financial independent. Also, happy for my loving family and my lovely wife of 50 years. We married when we were teenagers; we are old now :)

Happy Thanksgiving, OP!

No matter what will happen next week, life will go on. It may be a bless to be laid off. Don't be afraid of change.

ExxonMobil is a company of liars and deceitful ‘leaders’. They will pay for their sins in some form or the other. Even today are managers are the same slimy personalities they ever were, even now they wont admit that the “weareexxonmobil” culture is FLAWED. Such a lazy name anyway. Imagine “we are tesla”. They’d rather die than have that idea in thwir mind. But some corporate joker thought wow what a cool name, me, , we are exxonmobil. And WE get laid off for no mistake of hours. In an ideal lay off every level in the organisation must be reduced by the same percentage.

Just reflects how greatly the company thinks of itself, its just hollow and rotten to the core and starting to fall apart. Some Leaders and managers need to punished and held accountable. How else will anyone ever trust this company? The employees remaining hate every day of their lives they have have to show up for soul s—ing, meaningless, id–tic ‘work’.
