service desk management seems to be frReaking out around here.....was told confidentially that most of what we’re hearing is true, not sure on timeframe but they are certain it’s going overseas. I was informed to update my resume a few weeks ago after a closed door meeting occurred. I can say all management is aware and giving us no time to prepare. S—s

The proof is Ascension current history of random lay offs and not being transparent at all with their workers. The fact they won’t even address this rumor is proof something is going on behind the scenes they don’t want to reveal. If it’s a lie then management shouldn’t be afraid to say so....

Anyone have proof this going to happen?

I would hope that this forum would remain a source of information for people who are concerned about losing their job and not a a place for spreading unfounded rumors and for people who have previously been fired or left while on the verge of being fired to come and gloat at the prospect of others losing their jobs and ability to support their families and themselves. If the Service Desk is going to be outsourced, it will be a disaster for over 200 people as well as patients, doctors and nurses in a time of a major health and financial crisis in the country. Nothing to laugh or gloat about.

LOL Holy f— am I glad that I left that company for their incompetence. I dont mean to laugh at others pain here, but seriously.... The midnights team wasnt fully staffed ONE TIME in 5 years. Managers worried more about saying "please" than fixing issues. People who couldnt even use a PC were hired to work as their tech support on the service desk. Place was and still is a sh– show. I feel bad for the doctors and nurses that are going to have to call people from India for support. The entire company needs to be ended.

as a current operations member I can verify that the manager has been told to have Field services do the work. I enjoyed working for my previous employer before the switch over to ascension took place, then their mismanagement style became all to prevalent.

The entire service desk in Michigan is being laid off, the WARN act does not apply. People who think outsourcing to India is a HIPAA violation have obviously never heard of R1 RCM. This is happening and the new regime at Ascension cares only about their own salaries, they definitely do not care about the patients and certainly don't give a sh– about their employees.

I wouldn't count on a WARN Act... Knowing Ascension, they'll say the recent retraining opportunities and offering to fund training reimbursement as their casual way of saying - it's coming! As for Outsourcing the Service Desk... Sending it overseas would be a security risk and possibly a HIPPA violation - placing all of its employees and patients personal information in the hands of complete foreigners in a country whose security measures are not a strict as the US? One would think that would be too costly a mistake for them.

There is also the possibility they completely contract out the service desk. This would allow current desk support to move over to the contract company and keep working. They'd lose the years of benefits they had but would have a job.

What is interesting is that the Champion for the Service Desk and everyone that knows and has experienced outsourcing the desk from the past has been removed - thus preventing logical objectivity and arguments as to why it is not a good idea.

Ascension was a place that felt like home 2 years ago... now it's impossible to feel comfortable - The word Agile is used as an excuse for poor planning. It's no different than how software companies put out products and it's no wonder, it was founded for Software companies. Put out a product that is barely functional but passable with the thought of Upgrades down the road. Problem is, with all the cutbacks, we don't have the personnel to fix what's broken and keep up with the constant changes. Look how angry software users are with upgrades that don't work, only know we're talking about a Healthcare system.

We're willing to give away Millions of free healthcare to those who need it and can't afford it... How about keeping JOBS so that we can help those in need!!! How can you do one without the other.

If this rumor is true, WARN act would require 60 days notice to the employees of the Service Desk.

The DCO team I have heard will be laid off, however, I am curious how the Michigan Service Desk will be reduced. Outsourcing a SD in a month seems farfetched. Is there truth to this or only a rumor at this time?

Help Desk in Michigan being outsourced. 200 will lose jobs and health benefits this month just as the coronavirus strikes. Will be chaos when doctors /nurses are forced to contact India for help with emergency software issues putting patients lives in jeopardy.

Ascension Technologies Data Center Operations staff from sites all over the US will be gone by March 24th, 2020. These people were responsible for monitoring computing equipment and racking/stacking new equipment in the data centers. Now this work will fall to Field Services who are presently busy taking care of desktops in the hospitals. Not a lot of clear thinking in upper leadership at Ascension these days.
