Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

17th May is the D day

17th May, Wednesday will be the day managers will start notifying the affected folks. Their last day will be 24th May. Also the cuts will range from 5% for some teams to 20-25% for some. This is going to be ugly.

May 17 is likely D day. Heard it mostly impacts non engineering and those impacted in engineering are high titles mainly principle and above that have been in Q a long time and are basically resting and vesting. For the rest hardworking Q engineers don’t worry, get back to work.

I think May 17 is indeed the date. This site is 90% trolling + fear mongering + attacks, but about 10% of the information shared has been accurate in the past. The May 17 date has been doing the rounds for some time and matches what I have heard from multiple sources. I think the probability of this being true is very significant. Time will tell...

The notification date is May 17 - this Wednesday. Affected employees will be able to continue accessing internal systems until May 24. May 24 is the day when it will be the last day in the office for people affected. That day they will turn in their badges and company property. The last day with the company will be mid July as you count 60 days from May 17. Benefits will be in effect until July 30. I have no details in severance package yet.

Lay off higher title people first who are adding no value

This would include principle and above

The managers already know the date but does not dare to release the details of course. This date matches what I heard from a manager friend.

Everyone knows that there will be reduction, but no one knows the timeline except executive.
We do not have control on date. Instead of worrying about date, we should focus on future. What is your future plan in case of worst case scenario and best case scenario?
