Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Subsets within departments

Anyone that had been with BH or GE long enough knows about the subsets within each and every department. These hiring managers placed their people around them as buffers as a form of protection for their job. Oftentimes the people they have are useless and lazy but if you bring this up, you’re going against all of them. This type of toxic culture needs to be stopped or it will turn the good people away and bring the company down. If you don’t agree with this, you probably belong to one of those subsets, aka clique.

I agree with every post! I work for a supervisor that defends an employee that shows up to work at 10:30 and leaves at 3:45. This has been going on prepandemic!
Supervisor is more concerned about self image than with own authenticity. I’ve become less impressed with the whole lot. HR is an embarrassment. I’ve watched harassment and misconduct go unchecked!!!!
The legal liability in this section of the business is astounding.

The job postings are meaningless. Position already filled by a buddy. Job posting is written specific to him/her. Just a formality to keep from getting sued. Bull S#!%

I’ve seen it far too often across the company with both GE and BHI people. Your legacy pedigree has more to do with you chances to move ahead than does competency, work ability, ethic, production, etc. If you’re of them right legacy and tell your boss what they want to hear regardless of whether it’s true or not you’ll move up. God help you if you’re in a function run by the opposing legacy.

Absolutely. That’s been the case with BKR for many years, although it has been getting worse since the GE merger.

There was a time that a degree and experience, people skills, and character meant something. The proof of just how bad things are in the open job requisitions. When in the history of BHI did you ever recall reading a job requirement calling for an associates degree in Supply Chain management? They’ve diluted the talent pool. Pay attention - it’s happening across the board.

Managers selected because they are preferred. Not technical ability, not management skills, just a “yes” person to the other wannabe on top.

Then HR plays the same game. Biased, have no clue what’s going on in the workplace, and it’s just one big mess.

The most unprofessional and dum group of people ever worked with. Poor decisions,, poor focus, poor talent, revenue loss thru incompetence, no accountability, laziness, nobody could care less etc. Every day a shambles. End result is loss of work and layoffs. Inevitable decline.
