Have things improved lately, or are people still in the state of panic?

Keep those RSUs coming!
Couldn’t be lower
Circus
Let's improve employee morale by no longer working here.!
Sales within VMW was always odd if you ask me. Yes it never was a „us versus the customer mindset“, it was „we are VMW the customers will come to us anyway“.
If I would need to choose one word for the sales org, it would by dysfunctional.
Personally, morale is good. More $ than Vmware, seems to put in lesser real works, continue to WFH and nothing BC can do about it. Some people complained but not my problem. They just not knowing how to game the system. BC is a better company for me.
Sales has never had a VMW vs. Customer mindset. Most dont know how to sell and just go to massive discounts. Please Ms customer will you do it for 85% off. Please. Sales may be on OTE guarantee for now but you can be sure there will be a line they don’t want to be below.
If I last 12 months I retire.
Bare minimum , the only cringe I get it having to listen to people who seem entirely swallowed up by the fears of cuts.
Not sure why people stress so much over things they cannot change.
People always boast on Broadcom pay.. I made so much more money as a VMware sales rep!!!
Gloria: You?! Oh, ma... Where are the people?
Skipper: We ki-led them and ate their livers. [Gloria looks shocked] Got you, didn't I? Just kidding, doll, the people are fine. They're on a slow lifeboat to China. Hey, I know you two. Where's that psychotic lion and our monochromatic friend?
Madagascar.
No need no f ing people. Grumpa will just use AI and run this sh-t show.
"No panic here. I just don't give a single sh-t about anything. Collecting RSUs until my time comes."
Pretty much everyone I know in VMware seems to be in the same boat. Even senior execs; they know their "time" is coming, don't know when, but, until then, window dressing and watching RSUs vest.
If someone had told a younger me that I'd get a stock plan/salary like I have at Broadcom, have a reasonable work/life balance, enjoy most of the people I work with and somehow, at the same time, dread opening my laptop every morning and care almost 0 if I'm fired I would have told them they were nuts.
Failure of imagination I guess. I guess this plan works, HT has made a ton of money doing it in the past but man does this feel short sighted.
I really notice it in sales. Sales used to be "VMware Vs Customer", we'd figure out the best way to upsell the customer and provide low discounts to get the sale. Now? Seems that most sales reps spend their days trying to work the system to the benefit of the customer (and detriment of BC). More loyalty to your customer than the company paying you 100's of thousands a year? Certainly seems that way.
A case study on how to pay top dollar and get poor results?
I've never felt better.
I look at the useless people in my team panic because they've never hit their numbers in VMware and now there's real consequences for them.
I can't wait for all of them to get fired.
OP is from McKinsey trying to cleanup. Peanut butter has hit the fan.
I have created an emergency fund for 2 years thanks to Broadcom being generous. I will get another 4 months severance. Will ride this one out one way or another.
Just remember 7k count
Why do you keep counting yourself in. Trust me it is 6999, not 7K
@Op which company are you from??
Everyone at Broadcom:
Bob Slydell: You see, what we're actually trying to do here is, we're trying to get a feel for how people spend their day at work... so, if you would, would you walk us through a typical day, for you?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah.
Bob Slydell: Great.
Peter Gibbons: Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way Lumbergh can't see me, heh heh - and, uh, after that I just sorta space out for about an hour.
Bob Porter: Da-uh? Space out?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah, I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.
Feeling nostalgic I guess. Old fashioned offices, vending machines, cheap fluorescent lighting, ridiculous amounts of work, phantom compensation in the form of company stock, quarter-to-quarter layoffs, cr-ppy equipment, cr-ppy support...
It's all so last century. Reminds me of my first engineering job from back in the 1980's.
I am good, happy with huge RSUs and work is less than in VMware
Moral, fu-k that - BC a mechanism for me to retire early. Rest and vest baby, rest and vest!
Planning to write a book "How one greedy MIT grad doomed a company"....will be on sales in 2030. After my retirement.
No panic here. I just don't give a single sh-t about anything. Collecting RSUs until my time comes.

Like working in retail for the JCPenney of tech
I literally give a sh-t , doing bare minimum till they let me go !!
Zero Motivation and all my colleagues have same mindset..
Hahaha Shampoo
Rtztrtztrtzt
Reminds me of working for a Indian Outsourcing company like one of the WITCH companies. Login using 2 factor authentication a million times a day. VPN just freezes from time to time. Login to VMware VPN. Login to Broadcom VPN. If things still don't work then open a ticket with HCL and pray. I don't think this acquisition is real. They will just take a loss and write off once the AI bubble bursts.
Employee morale is SHITTTT
Just trudging through the daily BS while looking for the light at the end of the tunnel
The VMware deep state oligarchy is fully in charge. Hock is always seen with his handlers around him. Hock is always looking at his handlers before talking. But the Chinese are watching. The deep state will be eliminated.
My friends who are laid off are struggling. Housing market is imploding. Can't sell house. No jobs. Uber and Doordash is not enough to survive. Probably will be homeless soon. I will in that situation soon.

First time working for a company that blocks some of the Internet. Feels like living in China. Fear. Anxiety. Just watching your back all the time. Juvenile. The network barely works. Not sure why IT is outsourced. Productivity does not matter?
I am the only remaining engineer in my team. I don't know what happened to my team or my manager. Just looking at bugs for now. Don't know what will happen to me. No one has contacted me yet. In the directory there is no manager for me.
Living the HT life
It is a Chinese company. They will lay off every other week. Just remember 7k count. That is the target number. Don’t work. Just chill till they will let you go.
I'm miserable. Overwhelmed due to picking up slack from layoffs.
Being told the quality of our work needs to improve while the load doubles or triples.
No bump in pay this year.
I have no confidence this company cares at all for our well being.
Actively looking for the fire escape.
I literally do not know a single ex-VMW person who is now at BC, who is truly happy and excited about coming to work. I'm sure such people exist, but not a single person in my orbit feels that way. Everyone is looking over their shoulder.
I am good, getting my huge RSU and coasting - like zero work in our team. Europe
Never been better. I skip to work and bask in the glow of HT’s radiance.
