If it's capped, Qcom is not charging a percentage of the whole device. And Apple paid them $7.50.

Qualcomm kept the chips flowing because otherwise the customers would have been forced to find a second source (like Apple did). Once that happens, Qualcomm would be OUT of those devices forever. Then I t’s a harder negotiation with less leverage and bringing those customers back for future devices is more challenging. It’s not a selfless act, it’s purely about self preservation.

Some of the companies who've stopped paying @Qualcomm during licensing disputes are: @Apple (2 years), Vivo (over a year), @Oppo (over a year), @Huawei, Gonell says. @BlackBerry was underpaying he says. But Qualcomm kept shipping all of them chips. #FTCQCOM
