Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

If it wasn't sad, it would be funny

Have you noticed how many people keep failing up at Truist? I've seen it happen again and again. People mess up in major ways and then instead of facing consequences they get promoted. This is the best indicator that cronyism and nepotism are alive and well at Truist.

And isn’t it interesting that Meyer’s partner in crime Elley is at the Salesforce conference right now boondoggling with Salesforce and Accenture when all travel is to be cancelled and no one is going to the conference from Truist. I’m sure their families are there taking advantage of it too. Talk about some tone deaf leaders especially when the CEO is burning the furniture with $500MM+ in layoffs and restructuring!

Do they have lots of Assistant Vice Presidents at Wells Fargo?

As someone who came from WF.... don't come here. Better to be on the Chase 2.0 ship

WF employee here. If it makes you feel better, we have some stiff competition on our side for you with the ineptitude of our executive ranks and those who are quickly failing up the ladder. Over here, if you come from chase or bofa, you are lord, even if you have no idea what you are doing. I’m actually thinking of joining the Truist ranks-bad idea??? Are all banks a complete waste of time career-wise?

Why is anyone really surprised? Mashing together 2 banks with totally different cultures. One was a true community bank full of “doers” and one was a wanna be investment bank full of “talkers” who get nothing done. It was DOA before it even got started. Similar to mashing together First Union and Wachovia. How did that one turn out???

They’re not going to layoff in tech. That is the future. We are going to out Sofi Sofi. Don’t you understand? Our tech from the stripper building with the treehouses is the future of banking. They have said so in every way possible. Insurance is so old fashioned.

Treasury services is a complete Joke. Sales staff have no support. We can’t continue to apologize for poor service. When are heads going to roll?

Enterprise tech comment previous to this was interesting although sad.
So far all these posts haven't mentioned anything about layoffs in tech. Only post - which was the one above this mentions about promotion of Meyer. It seems that impression of him as egoistic travels before him. Is there any clear insight why Meyer is chosen for big promotion among all technology leaders ?

Compliance at Truist is just a series of creating checkbox worksheets and re-checking these worksheets. Compliance at Truist does not work like other banks. Compliance at other banks works with the business to launch products and solve issues. None of this occurs at Truist. Zero partnership

I barely graduated High School, and I moved up the ladder. You can as well, all it takes is persistence, and family connections, and using a little pressure 😉.

I remember after the horror that conversion was in February 2021 Joe Thompson holds an “all hands” call and proceeds to tell everyone what a success conversion was and how much assets were converted while we in the branch are going “what the heck?!” I will bet today that when Rogers retires, Thompson moves into the chair. I would have fired Thompson for the sc--w-ups that started with the conversion and gone on since.

When did you last work for another bank? Pretty sure it’s like this everywhere now with compliance.

There are so many darned people in Compliance anyway. I’ve never seen such a massive department in any of the banks I’ve worked out. They have the most ridiculous number of oversight processes that are redundant and unnecessary
